Anticipation around Valve's Steam Frame headset continues to build as several signs point toward a release announcement drawing very close. Valve has already confirmed that both the Steam Frame and Steam Machine are shipping this summer, and has expanded its Verified program to cover both devices.
On top of that official confirmation, a storefront listing update, a new game compatibility rating, a driver reaching release status, and an upcoming SteamOS update all point in the same direction. Reports also indicate new Steam Frame shipments have been arriving at US warehouses, with speculation that an announcement could land shortly after the Steam Summer Sale ends on July 9.

Valve Confirms Summer Release and Expands the Verified Program
Beyond the smaller signals, Valve has directly confirmed that Steam Frame will ship this summer alongside the Steam Machine. As part of that update, Valve expanded its Verified program to include both devices, giving buyers a way to see how well specific games will perform out of the box.
Flatscreen games need to run at a minimum of 30fps at 1280x720 to earn a passing rating, while standalone VR titles need to hit at least 72fps at 1728x1728 during normal play. Separately, tracking of Valve's shipments into the US shows a growing number of Steam Frame units arriving at warehouses, with one recent report counting 14 shipments so far.
That pattern closely mirrors what was observed ahead of the Steam Machine and Steam Controller launches, both of which saw large shipments arrive in the US shortly before their official announcements. Speculation suggests a Steam Frame release date and pre-order announcement could arrive shortly after the Steam Summer Sale concludes on July 9.
Komodo Storefront Listing Shows Signs of Movement for Steam Frame
The Steam Frame page on the Komodo storefront, a retailer that already sells the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, was recently modified. Since Komodo already carries Valve's existing hardware lineup and the Steam Frame is expected to be sold there as well, this update suggests movement is underway behind the scenes, potentially indicating that a listing could go live on the site relatively soon.
Portal 2 has become the first title to receive an official Steam Frame compatibility rating, based on Valve's breakdown of these ratings. This suggests developers are actively working to get their games ready for the Steam Frame ahead of launch, and it raises the possibility that more titles will begin receiving similar ratings as testing continues.

The wireless adapter driver for the Steam Frame has moved from beta to the release channel.
This driver had previously been available only in beta, and reaching release status typically signals that the underlying software is stable and ready for use, adding further indication that the Steam Frame's announcement is drawing closer. Valve recently released SteamOS 3.8, which focused primarily on supporting the Steam Machine launch, along with updates and fixes for desktop PCs and other SteamOS-compatible devices.
The next update, SteamOS 3.9, appears to be shifting the focus toward the Steam Frame and ARM-based devices specifically. According to Brad Lynch's reporting, Steam Frame-specific changes are already being merged into SteamOS 3.9, reinforcing the pattern of behind-the-scenes progress pointing toward an upcoming Steam Frame announcement.
