Lots of shiny new features and improvements arrived on Xbox to help brighten up that February gloom. Here’s a full breakdown of everything new.
Whether you’re playing on a device that’s not your console, low on storage space, or just cannot wait for that new game to finish downloading, streaming is the answer. And with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, the whole experience just got that much better.

Players can now enjoy sharper visuals and more responsive gameplay by streaming their games at a silky smooth 1440p. This new high bit rate streaming is available on Xbox Series X and S as well as Xbox One X and S, PC, handhelds, and a range of smart devices. It applies to both the cloud-compatible titles from the Game Pass library and those in the Stream Your Own Games collection.
There have been plenty of clouds in 2026, but we can all agree this is the best one. Is there a game you cannot wait to test higher bit rate streaming out with? Let us know.
New Audio Cues on the Xbox PC App
If you spend a lot of time in the Xbox PC app, you might have noticed some cheerful new audio cues popping up while moving around the various menus. They are not just there to sound pretty but to make using the app feel more responsive and intuitive when navigating it with a controller rather than a regular clicker.
It is nice little things like that which can make your everyday gaming experience that much nicer. Then again, if you have sworn an oath of personal vengeance against pleasant sounds and nice little things, you are free to hop into the audio section of the settings menu and switch them off.
Postgame Recaps for PC Players
Xbox Insiders recently got the chance to try out a new PC feature called postgame recaps. These provide a little summary whenever you finish up a session, rounding up any achievements unlocked and giving you a heads-up for upcoming events.
We all love a good recap, especially one that you can tailor to your exact preferences by going into Settings, then App, and finally Postgame.
ROG Xbox Ally Gets Even Better
Squishing the full Xbox experience down into a highly portable, nifty-looking device, the ROG Xbox Ally was impressive right out of the box. But that does not mean it cannot get even better.
Recent updates made it easier for players to format their removable storage and added an extremely techy-sounding feature called the Advanced Shader Delivery Indicator. It basically helps players get all their game shaders preloaded so that games launch faster, run smoother, and use less battery from the very first time they play them.
Any complaints about that one will have to go straight into the “my steak’s too juicy, my lobster’s too buttery” category.

Handheld Compatibility Expands
While talking handhelds, several of February’s biggest releases have been added to Xbox’s handheld compatibility program. That includes High on Life 2, which has been declared totally handheld optimized. It is ideal if you like to do your squunching on the go.
Have you been playing High on Life 2? We have been impressed with how it performs in handheld mode.
More Xbox Play Anywhere Titles
There have also been a load of new additions to the Xbox Play Anywhere collection. If you own a game like Mio Memories and Orbit or Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on your Xbox console, you can play on PC too, taking all your progress with you, and vice versa.
There are now even more games that you can stream in up to 1440p if you are an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber and own them. Titles like Rean Animal, Stars Island, and Romeo Is a Dead Man are part of the mix.
It is simply a great time to be a cloud gaming enthusiast. Whatever Xbox platform you are playing on, there are more features in the works, and we are excited to see what comes next.
