Romancing SaGa Reuniverse Launches Christmas Event Six Months Early
The mobile gacha game is rushing out holiday rewards during Summer

Romancing SaGa Reuniverse (bizarrely stylized as “Re;univerSe”) launched worldwide last week after being a Japanese only title for nearly two years. To promote the mobile free-to-play game, Square Enix has been advertising its upcoming Twitch live stream. Those that log in will be greeted with a rather surprising limited time event: Monika’s Christmas Operation.
The current theory among the community is that because Romancing SaGa Reuniverse came out in Japan during December 2018, the game’s entire live service schedule was copied one-to-one. This could result in every future event being off by around six months. Though, it also means that players will know well in advance what events are already in Square Enix’s pipeline.
Those that partake in in Monika’s Christmas Operation can collect rewards and temporary Christmas gift currency. These can then be redeemed for various prizes, including a unique style for the snowman character Flurry. For the event, several holiday themed styles were added to the gacha summon system. The event also includes its own side storyline featuring the main character Polka teaming up with other SaGa franchise heroes like Azami and Julian.
Monika’s Christmas Operation runs until July 11.
