Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic and beloved video game characters of all time. This is why Yugi Naka, the former lead programmer on Sonic and former head developer of Sonic Team, is one of the most respected individuals in the industry. Now the famed developer is working at Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix.

Naka began work today and stated on his official Twitter account:

Just a quick note to let you know, I joined SQUARE ENIX in January.

I’m joining game development as before, and strive to develop games at SQUARE ENIX.

I aim to develop an enjoyable game, please look forward to it.

At this point, it isn't known what Naka is working on at Square Enix, but judging from the tweet he's developing a new game.

Square Enix is currently developing Final Fantasy 7: Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, and an unnamed Avengers games as part multi-title deal.
