Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Debut Gameplay is Underwhelming
The much anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order first gameplay footage shows mediocre gameplay

Today during EA Play's 2019 livestream we finally got a look at Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's alpha gameplay. Those hoping for an epic series of battles that showcase the various enemies players will encounter will be disappointed. As the gameplay debut doesn't go beyond mediocre.
The gameplay features protagonist Cal Kestis, a survivor of Order 66, fighting alongside Resistance fighters to save Wookies on Kashyyak who've been captured by the Empire. While also disrupting an operation where the Empire is extracting sap from the surrounding trees.
We get a look at Cal's powers and some combat. With Cal using his force powers to break open doors, push trees, and wall running. Cal is seen able to push and pull enemies with ease, while also slowing time down. Traditional Stromtroopers prove no match for the Jedi in training and are easily killed with a single-swing,. The only opponents who prove a bit more challenging are the Purge Troopers and indigenous life, in this case, giant spiders. Requiring a bit more effort to take down.
Much of the gameplay showcases platforming and combat shown in other titles like in Uncharted and Tomb Raider with no outstanding moments. There was one instance where Cal uses his time manipulation force ability to pull a Stormtrooper onto oncoming fire and take the hit but considering they can be killed with 1-hit this seems unnecessary. Lastly, the trailer ended on a low note. Having Cal get captured by a KX-series security droid before cutting.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order doesn't look bad but it also doesn't seem amazing. Much of the platforming and combat looks serviceable but many expect great things from Star Wars and expect Respawn to break the Battlefront reboot series downward thrust. But judging from the debut gameplay, it seems it'll be an adequate platforming action title.
During the Q&A section, Respawn did reveal that Cal won't be enticed by the Dark Side. Cal is dedicated to the Jedi Order, with Vince Zampella and Stig Asmussen assuring this is a "Jedi story".
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15, 2019.
