There will be Cyberpunk 2, and CD Projekt Red has finally told everyone what they've been waiting for. The title is still a guess, but don't let that fool you—the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 is already being planned and is being made.

This time, too, the brightly lit streets of Night City will not be the main attraction. There is now a new playground in the future that looks like Chicago gone wrong. Even the person who made Cyberpunk agrees with this.

A whole new series is being made for the follow-up, which is being worked on under the code name Project Orion. There is no more REDengine. The whole project is being moved to Unreal Engine 5, which should make things run more quickly and make the experience more fun. It has cutting-edge graphics and a crowd system that moves and responds.

The company wants to make the cityscape in the game as responsive as possible. Now we have more information that has come to light about Cyberpunk 2. A new job post suggests that CD Projekt Red might be planning to change things up with Cyberpunk 2. It claims that the game will have a multiplayer mode.

The job posting says, "CD Projekt Red is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to work on Cyberpunk 2, the next mainline Cyberpunk 2077 game with our team." As a Lead Network Engineer, you and your team will be very important in planning and setting up the online tools and network architecture. You will be in charge of a group of skilled engineers who will work together to make sure that online systems work smoothly and securely.

It's not a surprise that the first reactions online have been, at best, mixed. Many attempts at live service don't really work out, and they often fail before they even get started. Being skeptical is a good thing. That being said, things might be different in this case.

This is why: Cyberpunk 2 is still mostly being made as a single-player RPG. At the very top of that job posting, CD Projekt Red said again that its goal is "to make groundbreaking story-driven RPGs that go straight to gamers' hearts." That promise hasn't changed. The online push doesn't appear to be replacing anything.

It's important to remember that CD Projekt had big plans for Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer, but those plans fell apart when the game's launch went badly. The company has another chance to make what it had in mind with a sequel. What is likely to happen? Something like GTA Online—an online world that comes to life and is connected to a deep single-player base.

If done right, it could be more than just a side effect; it could be a key part of your style for a long time. Real-time games have left deep scars on players, and they will need proof before they buy in. One thing is for sure: CD Projekt Red has wanted Cyberpunk to have multiplayer for a long time, and now they're finally building the framework to make it happen.

Now the question is: Are you ready for Night City to go online, or do you think it should stay a story-driven ride that you can do by yourself?
