A rumor is not a fact

A multitude of speculations are circulating the internet about the next Xbox console, but the biggest is the “always-online” connectivity rumor.

Today a internal memo from Microsoft regarding this has serviced. According to this memo “There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should 'just work' regardless of their current connection status. Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game”. according to Ars Technica. The memo also notes that Durango, the code name for Microsoft’s next console, is “designed to deliver the future of entertainment while engineered to be tolerant of today’s internet”.

While this does dismiss a lot of fears about the upcoming console it doesn’t convey about the online functions or what the name Fusion has to do with anything. However these rumors are still just opinions and haven’t been confirmed. This did lead a Microsoft employee, Adam Orth, to express his personal opinion on the matter before leaving the company after a public statement of Microsoft dismissing the statements.
