There are lots of rumors going around about when Sony will hold its next big PlayStation event. We now have a new report indicating that the PlayStation Showcase may be happening very soon. There is still no official word on the exact date, but rumors say it will happen on either Tuesday or Wednesday, just a few days before the Tokyo Game Show starts.

And fans might ask what about the timing? While the report mentioned a very vague answer, it could be suggested that the State of Play might happen next week. Initially, the report stated that it might occur "soon," but later it was mentioned that it might happen the following week. There were a lot of wild guesses on social media about what Sony might have planned after the statement.

The timing makes sense. The PlayStation event would probably have to happen earlier than planned because the Tokyo Game Show starts on Thursday. Tuesday or Wednesday would be the best days for it to happen. Sony's way of making announcements may also change based on whether the show is a State of Play or a full Showcase.

In the past, Showcases were told about a week in advance, but State of Plays can be told just one day ahead of time. This means that a notice could come as late as Monday for a show on Tuesday. Fans already have ideas about what might show up. Recently, State of Plays has talked about games like Digimon, which comes out right after Ghost of Tsushima.

Heavy hitters like Wolverine from Insomniac and God of War are also said to be possible options. Some people think Wolverine will open or close the event. Sony has relied a lot on third-party partnerships lately, but there is hope that this time, first-party games will also get some attention. Since it's been a long time since the last Showcase, people are expecting PlayStation to release useful changes.

If the Showcase goes through, it would be well-timed to get people excited before the Tokyo Game Show and solidify Sony's schedule for the rest of the year and beyond. All eyes are on Sony's next release, whether it comes out tomorrow, in the middle of the week, or at the very beginning of next week. Fans can't wait for it.
