Pokémon’s Switch 2 Roadmap Might Be the Biggest Yet
From Gen 10 and ancient Legends to a massive MMO and beyond, the leaked lineup suggests you are in for a wild decade.

If you remember a few months back, when the second Pokémon Terror League leak happened, you probably remember how shocking it was. Suddenly, a full list of upcoming Pokémon games for the Switch started floating around, and it looked way too detailed to ignore.
What made it even more interesting was that the list focused mainly on mainline titles. That means there are probably still spin-offs and side projects that were not even included. So, if anything, what you are seeing right now might only be part of the bigger picture.

Based on that leaked list, it looks like Pokémon has some huge plans lined up for the entire lifespan of the Switch 2. You are talking about new generations, new Legends games, and even the possibility of an official Pokémon MMO. If even half of this ends up being real, you are looking at one of the most ambitious eras in Pokémon history.
The first big stop on this roadmap is 2026, when Pokémon Wind and Wave, also known as Generation 10, is expected. According to the leak, this game is supposed to be announced during Pokémon Day Presents on February 27th.
If you follow Pokémon events closely, you already know that Pokémon Day is usually where the biggest announcements happen. So, if this is true, that presentation could be massive.
Generation 10 is expected to launch later in 2026, most likely around November. That timing lines up with previous Pokémon releases and even with some social media hints from known leakers like Centro. If you are someone who keeps up with Pokémon rumors, you have probably already heard parts of this.
It is said that "Gaia" is the codename for Gen 10, and "Wind" and "Wave" are the official names. People say the setting is based on Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia and its surrounding areas. Also, the leaked map shows a small part of Australia, which makes people wonder if it could be teasing Generation 11 already. Fans have long wanted a region based on Australia, so this detail has definitely gotten people's attention.
The map is expected to be similar in scale to Scarlet and Violet, but with a big twist. It is described as an archipelago with infinite island generation. If that is accurate, it means the game could feature constantly changing or expanding islands.
That alone would be a huge technical challenge and could really push the Switch 2 hardware. The last time Pokémon truly pushed console limits, many fans argue, was during the Black and White era, so seeing that ambition return would be exciting.
The main theme of Wind and Wave is said to be "Infinity."
The box legendaries are called the Wind Grandpa and the Wave Grandma. Right now, nobody knows what they actually look like, but concept art has already started circulating online, and some of it looks pretty impressive.
The weather is also expected to be a major gameplay mechanic. Instead of being a background detail, weather could directly affect battles, exploration, and progression. On top of that, the game reportedly includes deep-sea exploration. If you enjoyed exploring underwater areas in Hoenn or discovering the Abyssal Ruins in Unova, this could be right up your alley.
Another interesting feature is the ROM scooter. This is a new transportation system that lets you attach a device to any Pokémon and control that Pokémon directly. So, if you attach it to a flying type like Staraptor, you would fly behind it while controlling its movement. The same idea applies to swimming Pokémon or ground-based ones.
The story theme is described as survival, and there is mention of a special legendary Pokémon that you can personally raise. What that actually means is still unclear, but it suggests something more personal and story-driven than usual.

The reported budget for Gen 10 is around 3 billion yen, with development running from 2022 to 2025. The game is said to be directed by Shagiru Omorei. If these details are accurate, it shows that this is a major investment, not just another yearly release.
After Gen 10 launches, 2027 is expected to bring its DLC. There is not much information yet, but it will likely follow the recent Pokémon DLC model. That means new areas, new legendary Pokémon, and expanded story content. Many fans think the Australian section of the map could be explored further in this DLC.
Then, in 2027 or 2028, things get even more interesting with Pokémon Legends: Galar. This game is expected to be set in ancient Galar, around 10,000 years before Pokéballs existed. That makes it even further in the past than Legends Arceus, which already felt like a big historical leap.
One leaked image suggests a possible new Slowpoke evolution or Slowking variant that appears to be cooking in a pot. Some fans jokingly call it "Slowchef," but nothing is confirmed yet.
According to the summary, you will form wild alliances with Pokémon to fight massive Dynamax enemies. That implies that Dynamax and Gigantamax existed long before modern times and roamed the world then.
The game's theme focuses on AI and physics, especially Pokémon behavior, group dynamics, and environmental interaction. While that sounds vague, it could mean smarter wild Pokémon and more reactive environments.
One of the main objectives is crafting the first Gigantamax Pokéball using ancient technology. Since crafting was already part of Legends: Arceus, this feels like a natural evolution of that system.
There is also a fan-made concept trailer by Dusty Goat and Yaser that has impressed many people. While it is not official, it shows what Legends: Galar could look like if Game Freak really goes all in. If Pokémon ever fully embraced that style, it could change the series in a big way.
Between 2028 and 2029, the leak points to what might be the most ambitious project yet: a fully online Pokémon MMO. This game is supposed to combine Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh into one massive open world. Basically, all the Japan-inspired regions would be connected in a single experience.
The main goal would be to travel from Hoenn in the south to Sinnoh in the north, meeting other players along the way. The game would be completely multiplayer, letting you team up with friends to battle gym leaders, face the Elite Four, and hunt legendary Pokémon together.
Fans have been asking for an official Pokémon MMO for years.
Not just fan-made servers, but a real online world. Adding multiple regions on top of that makes it even more exciting. Right now, only the Johto games really let you visit more than one region. Expanding that concept to four regions could be huge.

Finally, in 2030, the list mentions Pokémon Generation 11. There is almost no information about this yet, which makes sense given how far away it is. However, some fans think it could be set in Australia, especially given the small hint on the Gen 10 map. That is just speculation for now, but it is fun to think about.
Of course, it is important to remember that this entire list is based on leaks. There is always a chance that some projects get delayed, changed, or even canceled. Game development is unpredictable, especially when it spans almost a decade.
If even most of this ends up happening, the Switch 2 era could become one of the most important periods in Pokémon’s history. And right now, it looks like you are in for a long, exciting ride.
