PSP App Store

Following in the footsteps of Apple’s successful App Store; Sony are set to expand their PlayStation Store by giving the handheld it’s very own section.
While there have always been games available to download there has never been the greatest selection to choose from, and compared to PlayStation 3 content it has struggled massively. By launching this new section they are hoping to instill new life into it by bring more content to the user and in a more accessible way.
Sony has already claimed that more than 50 studios are already signed up to the project, and will create a whole host of games and applications for users. Most developers will have signed up after being promised a much faster and less taxing process from development to going live with their content than that of the App Store.
Sony’s head of developer relations, Zeno Colaço explains, "We don't see any of the restrictions on the disc-based space being in this space," but remains defiant that, "It is still a professional environment, you still need a development kit and you still need to have investment and a team. But it can be a small team."
Whether this will get enough people interested in the PSP Go is yet to be seen, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
