Psychonauts 2 Will Release on PlayStation Consoles

After it was confirmed that Starfield would only come to PC and Xbox consoles many wondered if it was the same for Psychonauts 2. Double Fine came out and said no.

It's been a busy week but we want to clarify some things now that we've also been able to confirm them for backers. First, some folks have been asking if Pyschonuats 2 is a timed exclusive to Xbox.

It's not. The release date for PlayStation consoles is the same as Xbox.

Double Fine confirmed that Psychonauts 2 will release on PlayStation and Xbox systems at the same time. Mac and Linux versions won't launch on day 1 but will come eventually. The company did confirm that they're working to maximize performance for all platforms but for now HDR support only exists on Xbox Series versions.

Psychonauts 2 originally started as a crowdfunded project before the developer was acquired by Microsoft. But after Starfield's confirmation, it wasn't surprising to see gamers concerned if Double Fine would pull a Shenmue III. Considering the company's reputation of putting their fans first it was unlikely they would do that.

Psychonauts 2 will launch on August 25th for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, and PS5.
