PlayStation discounts, PS Plus games, and tournament plans were revealed, but consoles are notably missing from this year's sale.

You're getting a fresh wave of Sony PlayStation updates as the company rolls out details for the annual Days of Play 2026 promotion, timed closely around the upcoming State of Play on June 2. Every year, Sony tends to pair its spring and summer PlayStation events with a major sale, and this time is no different, even if a few things feel a bit different compared to what you might be used to.

According to Sony's PlayStation Blog, Days of Play 2026 officially kicks off on May 27 and runs until June 10. During that window, you're looking at discounts across PlayStation games, accessories, PlayStation Plus content, and even tournaments and special events tied into the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Sony is framing this as part of a bigger year for PlayStation, especially with 2026 described as a major milestone year for new releases and gaming experiences, centered on the State of Play calendar.

For PlayStation Plus, you're getting a set of monthly games for June that includes Grounded: Fully Yolked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer: Darktide, all available starting June 2.  Sony is also keeping EA Sports FC 26 in the monthly games rotation a bit longer than usual, extending availability through June 16 as part of PlayStation Plus.

On top of that, Destiny 2: The Legacy Collection, which includes The Final Shape expansion, is being added for Extra and Premium PlayStation Plus members starting June 9. Sony is also holding back the full game catalog lineup for a later reveal, which aligns with how PlayStation typically spreads out announcements during State of Play periods to keep momentum going.

If you're more into smaller or experimental titles, Sony is also pushing PlayStation Plus indie trials during Days of Play. From May 27 through June 10, you're getting trials for Expedition 33, Baby Steps, and Luminous Arise. Alongside those trials, Sony is also rolling out redeemable avatars based on these indie titles starting June 4, giving you more customization options tied directly into PlayStation Plus content.

PlayStation tournaments are also a major part of this year's Days of Play event.

Sony is opening up competition across a wide range of PlayStation games, including EA Sports FC 26, Madden NFL 26, NBA 2K26, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, UFC 5, College Football 26, Gran Turismo 7, Astro Bot, Asphalt 9: Legends, and Fortnite. If you jump into at least one match during the event, you'll earn a unique Days of PlayStation avatar and get entered into a sweepstakes.

Those sweepstakes include prizes such as a PlayStation Portal, a DualSense Edge wireless controller, a 12-month PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, and $100 in PS Store credit. On top of that, the top-performing player in each region gets the same grand prize, so Sony is clearly pushing competitive engagement pretty heavily across PlayStation during this State of Play period.

There are also "golden tournaments" built into select PlayStation titles, such as EA Sports FC 26, Madden NFL 26, and Mortal Kombat 1.

These offer double in-game currency rewards for winners and special tournament avatars for participants. Gran Turismo 7 players also get an exclusive Days of Play livery just for taking part. In contrast, Fortnite's Days of Play Cup features a global prize pool of $200,000, which keeps PlayStation's competitive scene very active throughout the event.

When it comes to actual discounts, Sony is mixing things up a bit this year. One of the biggest differences you'll notice is that there is no PlayStation console discount during Days of Play 2026. That means no PS5 Slim, no disc version discount, and no PlayStation 5 Pro sale either. For many PlayStation users, that's a noticeable change compared to previous Sony sales tied to State of Play seasons.

Instead, Sony is focusing more on accessories and software.

You're getting $100 off PlayStation VR2, $50 off Pulse Explore earbuds, $40 off Pulse Elite wireless headsets, $30 off the DualSense Edge controller, $30 off the Access Controller, and up to $20 off standard DualSense wireless controllers. Alongside that, there are also various PlayStation game discounts, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Helldivers 2, Death Stranding 2, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

If you order directly through PlayStation, Sony is also adding free standard shipping and returns on eligible items, which fits into their broader PlayStation Store push during Days of Play. PlayStation Plus also gets a small discount angle during the promotion.

If you're a new subscriber or upgrading, you can save up to 33% on 12-month memberships in participating regions.

Upgrading between tiers also carries the same 33% discount structure, whether you're moving from Essential to Extra or Extra to Premium. It's not a massive overhaul, but it's consistent with what Sony typically offers during Days of Play tied to State of Play marketing cycles.

Sony is also extending some benefits to Sony Pictures Core, where PlayStation Plus members get an extra 15% off movies across the store during the promotion period. Alongside that, Sony confirms there will be hundreds of additional PlayStation games on sale outside of the main highlighted first-party titles.

Overall, this year's Sony Days of Play promotion feels a bit different from previous PlayStation events.  You're still getting a wide spread of discounts, PlayStation Plus content, tournaments, and bonus perks tied into the State of Play season, but the absence of any PS5 console deals stands out more than usual.

With PlayStation nearing major hardware milestones and Sony continuing to stretch the current generation's lifecycle, the focus this time leans more toward accessories, subscriptions, and software rather than hardware discounts. Even so, the scale of PlayStation content on sale still makes Days of Play one of the bigger Sony events of the year, leading into the next State of Play showcase.
