Sony ends Jailbreak on latest firmware update

If you have a PS3, chances are you already downloaded the latest firmware update. This particular update, version 3.42, includes some “additional security features,” as stated by director of hardware marketing John Koller in the official Playstation Blog.

The war between hackers rages on.
This update was designed to basically eliminate the “PSJailbreak” hacking problem, in which PSN users utilized a USB dongle to install pirated software onto the PS3’s hard drive. As confirmed by Eurogamer, you have to download this update if you wish to stay connected on the Playstation Network. And according to Rich Leadbetter, users who are still using the Jailbreak are “sticking to 3.41 and using a proxy server bypass to remain online."
It's good to know Sony's taking action to combat this pirating issue, but this won't stop hackers from cracking the firmware codes in the future. Hopefully Sony won't have to resort to firmware updates every five seconds just to attempt to crack down on hackers everywhere. Still, it's better than doing nothing, I suppose.
