Ubisoft Games Will Require Constant Internet Connection
News by Craig Bryan on Feb 20, 2010
Ubisoft are once again at the centre of controversy over their new anti-piracy method that requires players to have a constant internet connection in order to play. If by any chance your connection waivers during a game; you’ll be forced out and the game will allegedly save for you, and will only become available again once connection is once again established.
Assassin’s Creed II for the PC which ships next month will be the first game to adopt this approach and will apply to all modes found within. This has many fans reeling, because while the game saves automatically for you; it will only save from your last checkpoint, thus making everything done thereafter pointless.
Many also bring up the point that nothing is going to stop piracy completely and eventually someone will find a way in. All this does is serve to hinder genuine customers. What do you guys think? Have Ubisoft took this too far, or are they right to protect their game in this way?
