ARC Raiders can feel overwhelming at first thanks to the roaming machines, PvP tension, and mountains of loot and quests.

This guide focuses on fast, low-risk steps that let you bank materials, weapons, and augments quickly so you never worry about losing your best gear. Follow these early routing, combat, and upgrade tips to build momentum immediately.

Keep Extra Loot from the Tutorial

In the tutorial mission, after you go down and get revived, any loot you pick up from that point forward carries over into the main game. Make a point to loot everything before you extract.

Take out nearby ARC Robots and loot them— even the one by the extraction point that you can normally avoid—because there are no other players to contest you in the tutorial. Treat this as free early-game materials that jump-start your stash.

Use Free Loadouts for Risk-Free Runs

When you queue for raids, avoid burning starter gear. Ready up with the Free Loadout option. It changes each match, but early on it typically includes solid weapons, free heals, shield regens, grenades, and enough ammo to operate comfortably.

If you die, you lose nothing because it was free. If you survive, you can trade the gray Free Loadout Augment to the NPC Lance for a green Augment at no cost. Chain these runs to stockpile guns and consumables early. Note that Free Loadouts do not grant a Safe Pocket, so anything you carry is at risk if you go down.

Loot–Extract Loop for Fast Progression

In your opening hours, prioritize speed. Enter a raid, loot quickly, and extract fast—even if it’s early in the match. Bank your haul and repeat.

With clean routing, a loop can take around five to ten minutes, rapidly compounding materials, money, augments, and levels. Early on, focus on filling pockets and leaving rather than taking unnecessary fights.

Combat Basics Against ARC Robots

While running these loops, pick off smaller ARC Bots for bonus XP and resources. Aim for the weak points on drones—the fan-like wings—to drop them quickly. Loot their ARC Cores and remember you can use those to repair shields mid-match.

Avoid engaging the big machines early; if you accidentally aggro one, hide in bushes until it de-escalates. Red lights indicate it’s targeting you and you need to reposition; yellow means it’s searching; blue means it’s merely patrolling and you can disengage safely.

Mission Items, Recycling, and Early Quests

Push your early quests while you loop. Quest-required items are marked with an icon on their corner, so make room for them. Higher-rarity items can be recycled (salvaged) both in-match and in your stash; you gain fewer materials in-match and more when salvaging in the stash, so extracting before recycling is usually better.

This helps with early objectives such as collecting six Wires—blue “toaster”-type electronics can be held and salvaged to produce Wires easily. Likewise, if a quest needs a Battery of a specific tier, you can recycle a higher-tier Battery (for example, a blue one) down into the lower tier (green) to finish the requirement.

High-Value Early Loot Spots

Red and yellow zones do contain higher-tier loot, but they attract more players and pack more ARC Robots. Early on, rotate through less contested areas with strong yield. The red apartment buildings in residential districts are excellent, unmarked loot spots where you can routinely find green and blue-tier items while encountering fewer players. Route through these apartments, fill up, and extract to build a healthy reserve stress-free.

Upgrade Scrappy the Chicken Early

Check in with Scrappy the Chicken between raids and claim the passive materials. Upgrading Scrappy increases what you receive every run. The first upgrade needs a Dog Collar, which is commonly found in Residential Areas—the red apartments are ideal for this. Secure the Dog Collar early so Scrappy becomes a steady resource engine as you bank more extractions.

Early Skills to Prioritize

As your level rises from frequent extractions, invest your first three points along the Red Skill Tree in the bottom right to unlock In-Raid Crafting. Being able to craft Bandages, shield regens, and other essentials on the fly means common materials translate directly into survival items during a raid.

Next, pump the Yellow Skill Tree node that raises maximum stamina. More stamina lets you outrun danger, rotate faster, and make or break fights. Maxing this early gives a real edge over anyone who skipped movement investment.
