Level up quickly in ARC Raiders with efficient XP farming strategies that unlock skill points, gear, and cosmetics faster.
Game Guide by Faviyan Mustafiz on Nov 01, 2025
This guide explains every reliable source of XP in ARC Raiders and how to maximize each one so you unlock skill points, new gear, cosmetics, and more at a steady pace.
With progression tied closely to level milestones, you will find the most efficient, low-stress ways to gain XP—especially from scavenging, time on the surface, safe extraction to Speranza, combat against ARC Machines and Raiders, and later-game quests.
All XP Sources at a Glance

After each raid, the after-action report summarizes XP gains. You earn XP for scavenging (looting), damaging ARC Machines, destroying ARC Machines, assisting in their destruction, damaging Raiders, knocking out and eliminating Raiders, assisting Raider eliminations, exploring, total time on the surface, and a safe return bonus. XP also comes from damage bonuses and mid- to late-game quests that appear as you progress.
Scavenging & Discovery XP (Your Highest, Easiest Gains)
Scavenging covers every locker, bag, crate, drawer, ARC Machine carcass, Raider bag—anything that can be searched. Each standard container you search grants 200 XP. Searching ARC Probes, larger downed and decaying ARC Machines, and other sizable husks grants 500 XP.
Searching Raider bags or corpses also grants 500 XP. Critically, containers with the potential for loot award XP even if they are empty, so you should interact with every searchable container—including ones your squad or other Raiders already opened—to keep the scavenging XP flowing.
Discovery also contributes: finding a new area of the map awards a 200 XP exploration bonus, adding modest but steady gains as you move.
Combat XP Against ARC Machines
Combat XP scales with enemy type. Smaller ARC Machines grant about 100 XP, with additional damage-based bonuses (for example, +4 XP) applied as you chip away at them. Heavier ARC Machine types such as Rocketeers award around 500 XP, with tougher targets scaling higher.
The XP yield for larger boss-type targets such as a Queen in the launch build may vary, but you can expect scaling beyond the 500 XP baseline for heavier enemies.

PvP XP Against Raiders
Combat versus other Raiders pays out but is not the most efficient path compared to looting. You receive 500 XP per knock or kill and 250 XP per assist when you contribute damage. Unless you consistently secure multiple eliminations per match, scavenging typically delivers more XP with less risk to your hard-earned loot.
Time on Surface (A Constant, Reliable Stream)
Time spent topside grants XP simply for surviving and playing. The average rate is roughly 3 XP per second—about 180 XP per minute—with observed totals commonly ranging from 174 to 180 XP per minute. This steady drip becomes one of your largest single contributors over a long run, rewarding safe, sustained presence in the world.
Safe Return Bonus (Extracting to Speranza)
Extracting safely back to Speranza grants a safe return XP bonus that appears proportional to your total time in the world. It is not a fixed number; the longer the session, the larger the percentage bonus. The difference is not so dramatic that you should risk a dangerous endgame, but when conditions allow, staying longer and extracting cleanly will noticeably boost overall yields.
Quest & Contract XP (Mid to Late Game)

As you progress into mid- to late-game content, quests and contracts begin awarding XP in sizable chunks—often several thousand XP per completion. These tasks grow more challenging, so they are not something you will clear every raid, but they provide a strong bonus for focused objectives alongside your routine scavenging and survival gains.
The Best Way to Level Up Fast (Practical Strategy)
For efficient, low-stress leveling, prioritize PvE and survivability. Go topside, move methodically, and search every container—especially those empty but still searchable—for consistent 200–500 XP scavenging ticks. Stay in the match as long as conditions remain safe to capitalize on the ~180 XP per minute time-on-surface rate, then extract to Speranza for the safe return bonus.
Expect most Raiders to be hostile on sight; if preferred, remain on the outskirts early, then push toward interior areas where loot density and searchable objects increase.
When confident in your loadout and the situation, opportunistic PvP eliminations can add 500 XP per knock/kill and 250 XP per assist, but pure looting and survival frequently yield three to four times more XP per raid with less risk. Later, layer in quests for those high-value XP payouts to accelerate progress even further.
