Understanding the Wooden Crates System

Ragnarok is the first map where you can utilize basic tools to loot special Containers scattered throughout the environment.

These wooden crates contain valuable resources that would typically take hours to craft. You'll find small Wooden Boxes positioned strategically across various locations, each containing different types of equipment and materials.

When you approach these Containers, you can break them open using any tool in your inventory. While a Metal Pick works effectively, you don't necessarily need advanced equipment.

Even your bare hands can break open these crates, though using a Pickaxe of any quality will speed up the process considerably.

Loot Contents and Rewards

Each Wooden Crate you break will reward you with a large quantity of valuable items. You can expect to find Arrows, Crossbows, Swords, Spears, Bows, Picks, Hatchets, and Pikes, among other equipment.

The beauty of this system lies in the immediate access to advanced equipment. Instead of spending time gathering metal ore and crafting basic tools, you can get fully functional metal implements right from the start. This includes Metal Arrows and other ammunition types that would typically require significant resource investment.

Primary Location: Blue Obelisk Area

Your best starting location for crate hunting is near the Blue Obelisk. This area provides the safest and most accessible collection of Wooden Boxes for new players.

The coordinates you'll want to target are approximately 18° and 16° on your map. This location offers multiple crates within a relatively small area, making it efficient for quick equipment gathering.

The Blue Obelisk region is particularly advantageous because of its lower danger level compared to other Crate locations.

You can spawn nearby and immediately begin collecting equipment without facing significant threats from hostile creatures. This makes it an ideal starting point for any new character or when beginning fresh after a server wipe.

Secondary Location: Vikings Bay

If you are looking for alternative Crate locations, Vikings Bay presents another option, albeit with increased risk.

This area requires more careful navigation due to the presence of dangerous creatures, but it offers similar rewards to those found in the Blue Obelisk location.

To reach the most productive crate spot in Vikings Bay, you'll need to locate the Sunken Ship positioned in the center of the bay. Navigate to the eastern edge of the bay area, then head toward the middle section, where you'll find the shipwreck.

Underneath, you'll discover additional wooden crates containing the same variety of metal tools and weapons.

Dealing with Area Threats

The Vikings Bay location comes with dangers that you must consider.

Eurypterids inhabit the underwater areas around the sunken ship, and these creatures will aggressively attack you if you venture too close. So, approach the underwater crates with caution.

Despite the risk, the rewards justify the danger if you are confident in your swimming and combat abilities. The crates beneath the ship contain the same valuable metal equipment found at safer locations, including Crossbows, Arrows, and various metal tools.
