Battlefield 6 can be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first entry to the series or first time playing a first-person shooter. In this guide, I’ll explain how you can stop dying so frequently and help your teammates.

Play Slow

A common reason that a lot of beginners struggle with is aimlessly rushing. When you charge through open areas or run blindly into objectives, you are most likely going to be taken down.

Playing slowly and thoughtfully will help you control the number of angles that enemies can attack you from, giving you a lot of time to spot enemies before they spot you.

You also don’t want to be lazy; make sure you’re clearing every corner and paying attention to movement.

Think before exiting buildings and peek before running across open ground; never take your guard down.

Utilise Cover

Staying alive will depend on how well you utilize cover, anything from walls to barriers, and vehicles can protect you from being shot.

Be on your toes and always go from one area of cover to another instead of just running across exposed areas.

When you’re in a gun fight, you want to lean or crouch behind cover rather than be out in the open.

Small objects like crates can come in handy when it comes to providing you with cover.

But you want to be careful not to stay in the same area, not to be predictable, and use your surroundings carefully.

Use the Mini Map

You’ll notice that a lot of your deaths come from simply poor awareness.

The mini map is probably your best survival tool that not many people utilize enough.

It will review where your allies are and where enemies might be coming from before pushing in. You’ll want to check your mini map to get an understanding of the situation.

And firing weapons will make positions visible on the map. This can help you hunt down players, but you also need to relocate to avoid being ambushed.

Suppressors can come in handy when it comes to situations like this.

Be On Your Toes

In Battlefield 6, a gunfight never really fully ends. After one enemy is down, there will probably be another coming your way.

Experienced players tend to anticipate where enemies spawn from rather than just react to what is happening.

Try getting an understanding of what may happen next rather than worrying about what’s currently happening so that you can always stay ahead.

Practice Aim

Having poor aim and poor equal control can offer and cause you to whiff encounters. Instead of panic spraying all the time, you'll want to slow things down a bit. It would also help if you would not use full auto at long distances.

At times, consider tap or burst firing to make it easier to hit your shots.

Standing still and crouching can also improve your accuracy, but you’ll always want to keep your cross here at head level so that you won’t have to over-adjust when an enemy appears.

You want to intentionally pay attention and slow down to fire your shot for the best results.

Game Modes

Different games of like Breakthrough or Escalation, can help you understand how the game works, and eventually, with enough practice, you’ll be able to predict enemy directions.

In these modes, enemies are usually spawned from specific areas, so when you play them, you’ll be able to practice good positioning, using the right pace, and practicing your awareness without being constantly killed for no reason.

When capturing flags, you’ll want to pay attention to the indicators that show how many allies and enemies there are nearby; allow yourself to make a decision based on the situation to practice.

Team Play

Working with your teammates is an underrated aspect that I wish more people thought of, at least in casual play.

Working off your teammates for cover or revives, and information can help you progress and get better at the game.

Even if you want to rush and pray for yourself, having someone nearby to support you makes a big difference.

Medics, particularly, are great for recovery, and checking out the squad competition can help balance and pick out roles.

Small Steps

Trying to accomplish entire objectives by yourself usually leads to no good and will often cause you to die.

Surviving will come from capturing areas one by one, one section after another at a time.

You want to pace yourself methodically and clear every section individually before going further.

For example, when entering a building, you want to secure the first room and then check upstairs, and then move to the next floor. Doing so would bring surprises along the way.

Death Traps

Windows, doorways, and open areas tend to be one of the deadliest areas in Battlefield 6. Before progressing across them, you’ll want to properly scan the area and specifically look out for glints from enemy snipers and sights.

Never stand still out and about in the open and try to be unpredictable; try your best to work your way around obstacles or use different paths to catch your opponents by surprise.

The key to dying less frequently so that the game becomes more enjoyable isn’t simply having good aim; it’s about having awareness, patience to grind through, and using intelligence.

Rushing into objectives, ignoring the basics, and failing to understand the enemy team will lead you to frequent deaths. Slow down, try your best to stay calm, utilize proper cover, and work with your team to ensure that you can contribute and actively enjoy Battlefield 6.
