Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Guide | How To Unlock 'A Peculiar Encounter' Achievement (Defeat the Mime in Lumiere)
Guide to Unlocking the "A Peculiar Encounter" Achievement by Defeating the Mime in Lumiere.

You can unlock the "A Peculiar Encounter" achievement or trophy for defeating the mime in Lumiere. This takes place during the prologue and is technically a missable achievement or trophy.

A few minutes into the game, after you reach the Arc du Triomphe, instead of going forward to continue the story, take a look to your right-hand side. You'll find a stage with some people dancing on it, and to the right of that stage, there will be a mime.
You can change your difficulty to easy right before this encounter if you want. There's a specific way in which mimes work—they build a wall in front of themselves to protect them, and you have to break this wall to deal any realistic damage.

Strategy for Breaking the Wall
As Gustave, it's best to start with Lumiere Assault. This will build your overcharge meter, and assuming you get all perfect hits, it should get you up to five out of ten. Avoid using your free-aim weapon since that wastes your AP points.
You'll need to successfully parry a few of the mime's attacks. The mime generally uses two moves: a hand-to-hand combat combo that hits three times and a strange hammer attack that hits four times.
Your goal is to fill your overcharge meter to ten out of ten and ensure you have at least four AP points to perform an overcharge. This will break the mime's wall—the yellow meter beneath its health bar. Once that meter breaks, the wall falls, and you can deal with massive damage, likely defeating the mime in one hit.

Finishing the Fight and Earning the Achievement
Your overcharge doesn't need to be maxed, but using it this way does the most damage and is the best use for it. Breaking an enemy with a full overcharge also earns you another achievement, so you can get two achievements in one go.
Once the wall is broken, the mime will be stunned, and you can finish it off with any regular combo. This should take about a minute.
Once the fight ends, you'll receive your "A Peculiar Encounter" achievement or trophy.
Additional Reward
Defeating the mime also grants you a music record. Don't worry if you miss it—the same record appears later in the game, so you won't be locked out of any music-related achievements. Still, it's a good idea to collect it just in case.
