You're about to face Chromatic Ramasseur, a boss that might be the hardest you'll encounter in the game. If you're not skilled at parrying or dodging, this guide is especially for you.

The boss doesn't come with special mechanics, which might make it seem simple on the surface—but it's also very difficult at the same time.

Understand the Core Mechanic

The main thing you need to do here is parry. There's just no other way to handle this boss. You'll most likely get the first turn, and in that moment, you should apply burn to it. From there on, the battle becomes a constant stream of attacks.

The only way to deal damage and eventually break the boss is by successfully parrying every attack so you can counterattack. That is how you build progress.

You shouldn't bother with dodging here. All that does is delay the inevitable. It's more efficient to focus on learning the parry timing. That way, you're only concentrating on one mechanic instead of juggling two. It simplifies the fight and increases your chance of success.

Recognizing Attack Patterns

You'll be dealing with three different attacks. When you see the message that says "performs a combo with a Nevron arm," be ready for either a four-hit or eight-hit combo. The rhythm of both is quite similar: two hits come quickly, then there's a pause, followed by another two hits. If it's the eight-hit combo, that pattern repeats.

When you see that message, always assume it will be an eight-hit combo and prepare accordingly. It's better to prepare for extra hits that don't come than to get caught off-guard.

The third attack happens when you see the message "performs a mortal hit." This is a one-hit attack that will kill you regardless of your level. You must parry this one, too, if you want to counterattack.

To get the timing right, wait for the boss to do a jerky movement, then when he starts to swing and moves just slightly, that's your cue to press the parry button. Surprisingly, this mortar hit is easier to parry than the combo attacks once you get the timing down.

Maximize with the Right Pictos

Since this whole fight relies on your ability to parry, make sure you equip pictos that give you some benefit during a parry. These passive bonuses will help you endure and succeed.

As you land more successful parries and counterattacks, you'll fill up the boss's break meter—the yellow bar below its health. Once it's full, the boss becomes stunned. This is your window to unleash your strongest skills and inflict heavy damage.

The boss is weak to light damage, so make sure you hit hard during that break window. If you've equipped the right pictos and used your damage burst wisely, you could finish the boss in a single break phase.

If you don't have the strongest skills yet, be prepared to go through multiple rounds of parrying and breaking. It's still manageable even then.
