For Dune: Awakening to run smoothly, you need to be able to handle your inventory and storage well. Learning how to quickly move things, make the most of storage systems, and use tools like the Buggy can cut down on downtime and keep base operations running smoothly.

This guide explains important ways to improve the way you store things and make the most of how inventory works.

Organizing Chests for Quick Deposits

Begin by setting up chests designated for automatic deposits. Each chest should be organized by specific item types.

For example, one chest might hold Metal, Granite, and Pawn Fiber, while another is used for various NPC resources collected from different game locations.

Once back at your base, use the quick deposit function. Press F, followed by another F, to deposit items into the correct chests.

This way quickly gets rid of everything in your inventory except for the most important things, like resources for building a base, which can be kept in a separate place, like an Ore chest. With this method, you can keep your inventory clean within seconds of coming back from a trip.

Using the Buggy for Storage and Transport

Acquiring a Buggy is highly recommended due to its substantial carrying weight. With a Cut Array attached, resource mining becomes incredibly efficient. The Buggy can carry up to 2,750 units, compared to the 175-unit limit of your personal inventory.

To transfer materials from the Buggy to storage chests, access the transfer option from your inventory menu. Switch from your Backpack to the Buggy's storage and move items directly into a chest. This avoids having to carry items in your inventory and eliminates the need for multiple trips.

The Buggy can also be used to move items from one chest to another. Put items from one chest into the Buggy, then go to the target storage container and take the items out of the Buggy. The Buggy is a handy middleman for rearranging your storage system because of this.

Using Circuits for Smarter Crafting and Inventory Routing

Circuits play a vital role in crafting and inventory management. Every Storage Container and Fabricator is assigned a circuit by default—typically Circuit One. If a Fabricator is configured to pull from Circuit One, it will automatically access all storage devices set to output to Circuit One.

For example, the Survival Fabricator can pull required materials even if those materials are not in your inventory, provided they are available within the same circuit.

In solo play or with close friends, circuit management rarely needs adjustment. However, in multiplayer bases with shared resources, different circuits help prevent unintentional depletion. Assigning storage containers to unique circuits—like Circuit Two—ensures fabricators won't draw from them unless they are configured to do so.

To reserve private resources, set a chest's output to an unused circuit, such as Circuit Eight. This prevents machines from pulling materials or depositing additional items into that chest.

Managing Outputs and Avoiding Cluttered Chests

Machines such as Fabricators that create items like Silicone Block or Stravidium Fiber rely on designated storage slots. If all slots are filled, the machine continues crafting and outputs items to any chest on the same circuit, typically prioritizing ones that already contain that item.

If no such container exists or existing stacks are full, the game will place new items in randomly available chests within the circuit. This can result in clutter and mixed inventories.

While the default behavior generally works well, be mindful when storage begins to fill up across multiple machines and containers. Letting the system auto-manage outputs is usually sufficient, but if item overflow causes problems, reconsider how your circuits and output slots are structured.

Maintaining an organized inventory with designated chests, strategic Buggy use, and circuit planning will help streamline operations and enhance your gameplay experience in Dune: Awakening.
