Ghostwire: Tokyo throws a lot of things at you right away. The city has a lot of Visitors, collectibles, side content, and hidden rewards.

If your exploration starts to feel untidy, a few smart moves could help. To swiftly get crucial powers, keep your resources full, and stay focused. In contrast, the map keeps getting bigger, follow the methods below.

Push the Main Story Until Chapter 2 Opens the Game Up

Chapter 1 is short, and the tale doesn't really get going until Chapter 2. Chapter 2 is when Akito learns most of the basic skills that make moving around and fighting feel right.

It helps to ignore distractions at first and progress through a good part of Chapter 2. More tools in your kit make every side activity faster and safer.

Clear the Fog by Cleansing Torii Gates

While exploring, the deadly Fog blocks routes and shuts down large parts of Shibuya. To push it back, seek out corrupted Torii Gates and cleanse them.

The full map cannot be unlocked immediately because many Torii Gates do not appear until later in the story, but clearing what is available still makes navigation smoother and opens up more options.

Collect Spirits Efficiently with Katashiro

Shibuya is packed with blue spirits, and they are everywhere once exploration starts. You can only hold as many spirits as you have Katashiro, so capacity matters. You begin with a few, but Nekomata vendors can sell more Katashiro.

They are expensive, yet Meika tends to be plentiful on most routes, so buying extra Katashiro reduces the need for constant trips to a Payphone. More capacity also helps avoid missing spirits in areas where a Payphone is not close.

Make Quick Meika with Relic Requests

If Meika is ever feeling sad, she should glance at the Relic Requests under the Quest tab. These are simple side objectives that pay highly and don't take long to finish. When there are many goals in the same area, keeping track of them all at once speeds things up. A short trip to Relic Request will usually swiftly solve money problems.

Use Core Absorption for Faster Kills and More XP

After an enemy takes enough damage, Akito can pull out and absorb the enemy's Core. This is a quick kill and also grants extra XP, so it is worth using often.

Absorbing a Core is not always mandatory, though. Sometimes it is safer to finish the enemy with extra hits, because Core Absorption takes time and can be interrupted, leaving you open.

Skills that speed up Core Absorption help a lot, and a melee-range Core rip is especially useful because it cannot be interrupted. The Exposure Talisman also helps by exposing Cores faster.

If multiple enemies are staggered near each other, it is possible to absorb more than one Core at the same time, but the window does not last long.

Restock Ammo and Healing Mid-Fight

Combat goes smoother when ammo and healing stay under control. If ammo is running low, look for floating objects, such as cars and other debris.

Break them with melee or a Wind blast to drop resources. If drops land far away, holding the aim button pulls resources toward you, which saves time in busy fights.

Akito can carry one normal food or drink item that heals and one spectral food item that heals and gives a temporary boost. You may swiftly change out the objects you have equipped, and when one runs out, another one will immediately equip itself in its stead. Staying stocked stops panic, heals, and wastes chances.

Reduce Map Clutter and Keep Tracking Simple

The map fills up fast in Ghostwire: Tokyo, especially once side content starts stacking. Use map filters to hide icons that are not needed right now.

It also helps remove icons for completed tasks, making new objectives easier to spot and reducing visual noise while routing across Shibuya.

Use Omikuji at Shrine Shops for Temporary Buffs

For a small cost, visit a Shrine Shop and draw an Omikuji fortune. The result grants a temporary buff or debuff, depending on luck.

Many outcomes are worth the price, and even a bad result can be manageable if it is timed well. If a tougher fight or busy route is coming up, an Omikuji draw can be a strong swing in your favor.

Watch for World Events, Especially Hyakki Yako

World events are a great way to gain spirits quickly. One type involves Visitors channeling energy into a cube of trapped souls to send them into the abyss.

A reliable approach is to wait until the channel starts, then move in from behind for a stealth kill. Another major event is Hyakki Yako, a ghostly parade that pulls you into an arena fight against waves of Visitors. Clearing the arena rewards a strong chunk of spirits.

Take Short Side Quests and Explore Rooftops with Glide

Side quests appear often, sometimes several at a time, after small story progress. Many of them are short errands and still give solid rewards, so skipping them can mean missing easy upgrades.

The city is also more vertical than it first appears. There is a route to the top of many buildings, and the effort usually pays off with useful finds.

In Chapter 2, you gain Glide, which makes rooftop movement much easier. Glide can be upgraded to last longer, and investing skill points there improves travel across Shibuya. There is also no fall damage, so dropping from high places is safe and can speed up routing between objectives.
