Now you’re approaching the point of diving headfirst into LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, but all you need are the last pieces of info regarding its release, which is the exact date when it’ll be available, its content on early access, the difference in PC vs. console release, and the extra goodies for the Deluxe Edition.
The release schedule varies slightly across platforms, so it will affect the exact nature of your experience. If you are on a console, then you will receive a roll-over midnight unlock, meaning that at midnight of the day when the game releases, you will be able to start playing it. For example, if you are on the East Coast, you’ll have access to it at midnight local time. On the West Coast, you’ll gain access at about 9:00 p.m. on the previous day due to the time zone difference.

PC players, though, have a different schedule.
Forget about the midnight unlock; what you have here is an actual global fixed time: 10:00 AM PT, which translates to 1:00 PM ET when the game goes live. This is true whether you plan on accessing the game via early access or during the full release period. If you are using a PC to access the game, you should know that you won’t be able to get started at midnight; instead, you will have to wait until the afternoon.
For those accessing the game via early access, the good news is that you will have to wait only until May 19. What you need to know is that accessing the game via early access means you are effectively getting it just a few days before its full release. You will get started at midnight if you are on consoles, but you will have to wait until the 1:00 PM unlock time if you are on PCs.
Not only that, but you will also be provided with some Twitch Drops based on the game itself. From May 19 to May 31, you can earn in-game customization items related to the Batcave. In the early access phase, you will receive items such as the drinks fridge and controller stand for your Batcave. Upon the game’s release, however, the list of rewards you can earn expands, including the gaming chair, desk, collector’s cabinet, and controller background.
There are also additional themed rewards tied to the official DC Twitch channel.
Here, you will have an opportunity to collect cosmetic items such as a comic book rack and a neon bat icon. It should be noted that these are not necessary for gameplay, but they are related to customizing the Batcave environment, which appears to be one of the game's key customization options. It requires watch time on Twitch streams to be earned, which means that you will be able to accumulate these cosmetic items passively while consuming content.
Regarding performance, many fans wondered whether the PC version would perform well, and now you know the game is also Steam Deck-compatible. Thus, you will be able to enjoy playing Batman: The Enemy Within on Valve's portable device.
It has also been proven beyond doubt that the game will run on the Nintendo Switch 2, which should give you an indication of how well-optimized this game really is. However, despite all these advantages, there has been some debate about the game's PC system requirements, given that they seem quite high for something that is ultimately a LEGO game.

Most of the debate regarding the system requirements centers on the fact that the developers have heavily leaned on modern technologies such as DLSS and frame generation to produce a playable game. On paper, one would expect an RTX 4070 to be sufficient to run the game without any problems. However, based on the system requirements, it appears the developers have used these technologies extensively.
At the same time, expectations are still relatively positive.
Prior LEGO games by the same developer have done exceptionally well on PC, particularly LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which has performed well throughout its release. This gives us confidence that, when embargoes are lifted, we’ll see performance good enough to ship the game. But then again, there is always the risk that early buyers of the game may end up with a relatively immature version.
Despite all this, the game has seen tremendous commercial interest. We are talking about nearly 950,000 wishlists on Steam ahead of the release date. Such numbers clearly indicate that the game has already generated significant hype before release.
There is also an additional reward available if you plan on pre-ordering and picking up the game early, and this includes the Dark Knight Returns Bat suit, which pays homage to the comic book series. It is one of those bonuses that have become increasingly popular within major game launches, giving you an incentive simply for pre-ordering.
It is worth noting the Deluxe Edition, which offers much more content for players who pre-order. You not only get the game itself, but also a massive amount of additional content, including the entire game and its so-called Legacy Collection, alongside over 30 launch-day cosmetic items.
The available packs include the Arkham Trilogy, Batman Beyond, and Party Music. Every pack contains seven costumes, with each one belonging to one playable character, alongside a Batmobile and various items that can be used to customize the Batcave. This is very modifiable, thus making the game attractive to all gamers.
You also get additional content through the Mayhem Collection.
It comes with new story missions and the introduction of Mayhem Mode, featuring characters like Joker and Harley Quinn. It also comes with a Sinister Pack with villains, which adds more character skins, a Batmobile, and Batcave props. But all of this won’t come together at once. Although some of the Deluxe Edition content will be released on release day or in early access, there is still a planned date for the Mayhem Pack.

In September, the Mayhem Pack will be released. The Deluxe Edition is priced at about $90 for the console and PC versions, but the base edition will be cheaper and available at a later date. When purchasing from third-party merchants such as Green Man Gaming, you may obtain cheaper Steam codes, making the overall cost more economical.
Overall, the game is shaping up to be one of the bigger LEGO releases in recent years.
This is due to more than just its content; it also concerns the way it is being treated regarding early access, platform exclusivity, and even paid versions of itself. It is the classic combination of standard launch availability, exclusive early access, cosmetic packs, and limited content releases.
There is even a trend emerging in terms of access models here. Many new games use an advanced access model, where you pay extra to play the game earlier. In this regard, the title is not an exception; it fits into the same trend that was observed in recently released games. This seems to be the regular thing nowadays in big games that need to promote pre-orders and early sales.
Finally, you are facing a heavy release date with staggered access times, extensive customization options, and massive initial demand, as evidenced by nearly one million wishlists on Steam. No matter whether you buy access to it in advance and get it either on console midnight or PC afternoon, or choose to get access to the Deluxe Edition, you will be able to do so within a few days.
