The Great Tengu has a major weakness in how he moves. You can win this fight by staying mobile and keeping your distance. He struggles to hit targets that stay far away. If you follow this plan, the fight ends quickly.

Maintaining Distance

The best thing to do is run. You are much faster than this boss. He cannot close the distance well. Just keep moving around the room. Wait for him to make a mistake. He has two main moves that give you an opening to strike.

Use the Wall During Grabs

Watch for the grab. You will see black and gray smoke on him. He will fly across the room to catch you. Stand with your back near a wall in Nioh 3.

When he gets close, move to the side. He will stop right there because of the wall. This lets you get behind him. Hit him with your Samurai gear or Ninja tools. Land your hits and then get away.

Timing the Burst Attack

The Burst Attack is the move with the red glow. He will dash at you from across the arena. You need to time your Burst Counter to hit him as he arrives. This knocks him down. Hit him while he is stuck. After that, go back to running.

The fight changes slightly when he transforms. He will start using tornadoes. Run in wide circles to stay out of their path in Nioh 3.

One important rule: do not attack him after a grab in this phase. He will jump and hit you if you try. Just wait for the Burst Attack instead. You can also throw Kunai from across the room to lower his health. This keeps you safe while he dies.
