The main objective of the Flesh Lily Tale side quest in Phantom Blade Zero is to locate the Twin Flesh Lilies. This quest is given by Yu’er at the beginning of Weeping Creek Valley after agreeing to help her find medicine for her sick father.

The herb is in an underground chamber, in the dark under the main path. Here is how you can find the area, defeat the guardian protecting the altar, and grab the quest item.

Reaching the Valley Sha-Chi Tower

Before you can hunt down the flowers, you need to push through the main story quest Against The Flow and defeat the primary boss, Peng Meng, The Axemaster, near the Outpost in Phantom Blade Zero.

After you beat him and speak with Yu’er by the forge, follow the main road forward until you arrive outside the Valley Sha-Chi Tower.

Phantom Blade Zero Yu’er Quest Giver

Ring the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell sitting right in front of the entrance to set your respawn point.

Once the bell is active, walk through the front door and take out the three shielded enemies guarding the ground floor. A fully charged strike with your Dread Axe will shatter their armor immediately in Phantom Blade Zero.

Finding the Secret Path to Flesh Lily Fields

Once the room is clear, do not head up the stairs toward the summit. Instead, head toward the back of the ground floor just to the right of the central furnace column.

Look right next to the large pipe to spot a hidden ramp leading straight down. Slide down the ramp to land in the lower cavern, then quickly take out the few basic enemies wandering around the landing.

From there, follow the red flower petals as they curve to the left until you reach the Flesh Lily Fields bell just outside the boss arena.

Defeating Hua, Deadly Betrothed

The Twin Flesh Lilies are guarded by an optional boss named Hua, Deadly Betrothed. She fights using delayed sword strikes, sudden teleports, and poisonous flower hazards that fill the area in Phantom Blade Zero.

Her standard blade combos have unusual pauses before each swing, so focus on learning her rhythm and parrying her attacks to deplete her Sha-Chi gauge quickly.

Stay clear of the red mist created by large ground blossoms, and sprint across the room if she summons spinning red flowers so they do not trap and explode on you. When her overhead slash flashes blue, time your parry to leave her open to attack.

If she flashes red and raises her arm, dodge away instantly to escape her damaging grab. Once you stagger her, unleash fully charged attacks with your Dread Axe to shred her health bar.

Picking Up the Flesh Lily

The arena clears out as soon as Hua, Deadly Betrothed falls. Walk forward to the stone altar where the boss stood at the start of the battle.

The Twin Flesh Lilies are resting directly on the ground in front of this altar. Pick up the item, then head back to the nearest bell to fast travel to the Outpost and deliver the cure to Yu’er in Phantom Blade Zero.

FAQ

Q. Can you get the Flesh Lily before defeating Peng Meng, The Axemaster?

A. No. The road leading to the Valley Sha-Chi Tower stays blocked until you clear the main encounter against Peng Meng, The Axemaster and talk to Yu’er at the Outpost.

Q. What reward do you get besides the quest item?

A. Beating Hua, Deadly Betrothed right before collecting the herb gives you the Scarlet Wraithblade, a two-handed weapon that produces damaging red flower patches on hit.

Q. Do you have to fight Hua, Deadly Betrothed to complete the quest?

A. Yes. The Twin Flesh Lilies sit right at the base of the altar inside her arena, so you must defeat her before the game allows you to collect the flowers.
