Here’s a guide on how to beat Jing Ye in Phantom Blade Zero.
Game Guide by Ragib Rawnak on Oct 31, 2026
You will fight Jing Ye as a main story boss in the Crimson Forest area. Make your way toward the Outlaw Trap bell on the map. You will spot him waiting just past the ground trap set in the dirt path. Walk forward into the clearing to start the fight.

Recommended Build and Equipment
Bringing the right tools into this fight saves you a lot of headache, especially once Jing Ye drops his mount and hides behind his guard in Phantom Blade Zero.
Equip the Dread Axe as your Phantom Edge. You get this tool earlier from Peng Meng, and it shreds shields and blue stagger gauges much faster than basic slashes. For your main weapon slots, carry the Scarlet Wraithblade and pair it with the Jagged Steel.
The Scarlet Wraithblade tears down his posture, while the Jagged Steel applies bleed status so you keep dealing damage even when you back off to catch your breath.
For your accessories, slot in the Cavalrybane trinket. This boosts your raw damage output while Jing Ye stays on his horse. You should also put on the Shieldbreaker Talisman, which tacks on a massive 50% damage bonus against shields.
Phase #1: Mounted Horseback
Jing Ye opens the battle on horseback. The moment you close the distance, expect him to leap into the air on his mount. This jump is parryable. Immediately after landing, he will string together a three-hit sword sequence.
The combo begins with an upward cut and finishes with an unblockable strike. Parry the opening leap, block the initial swings, and dodge clear of the final blow. If that whole sequence hits you, it will wipe out most of your health bar.
You can safely block standard weapon swings during this phase. Watch his hands for red or blue glints, since those attacks will cut right through regular blocks in Phantom Blade Zero.
Play slow, keep your guard up, and punish him only after he finishes a full string and briefly staggers.
When Jing Ye pulls a pouch into his left hand, he will squeeze it to fire red homing missiles at you.
Do not simply stand still and hold your block button. The final missiles in the volley will pierce through your guard and deal chip damage. Sidestep around the projectiles or mix quick dodges with timed blocks to take zero damage.

Phase #2: Shield Stance
Knock off roughly a third of his health bar and Jing Ye will hop off his horse. He equips a sturdy shield for this phase, making direct frontal hits bounce off in Phantom Blade Zero.
Swap to your Dread Axe Phantom Edge right away. Smashing his guard with the axe chews through his blue stagger gauge in just a few hits.
Hit him with the Scarlet Wraithblade to force a stagger state, then quickly cut him with your Jagged Steel to get the bleed buildup going. With the Shieldbreaker Talisman equipped, his shield will shatter before he can pin you down.
Phase #3: Sword Stance
Once his shield breaks, Jing Ye drops into a two-handed sword stance. He moves much faster on foot and relies on gap-closing jumps.
Whenever he launches into a long leap across the arena toward you, the camera scene will shift to gray. This indicates a Sha-Chi draining strike in Phantom Blade Zero.
Wait for him to land, and immediately hit your parry button because he always chains an instant follow-up slash right after the jump. Time the parry cleanly to stagger him, open him up for an execution attack, and finish off his remaining health.
Boss Rewards
Taking down Jing Ye drops the Outlaw Warblade. Beating him also clears your current main objective, opens the road into the next district of the Crimson Forest, and unlocks key campaign progression systems.

FAQ
Q. What is the best Phantom Edge against Jing Ye?
A. The Dread Axe is the best choice here. It deals massive posture damage to his guard and breaks his shield during the second phase much faster than normal blades.
Q. Can you parry the horse jump attack?
A. Yes. You can parry the jump attack right as the horse comes down, but you need to immediately dodge the final strike of his follow-up sword combo.
