Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Guide | How to Get Shiny Decidueye
Four reliable methods to add a shiny Decidueye to your collection.
Game Guide by Jubair Baky on Feb 20, 2026
Decidueye can now be found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. There are a few different ways to get it shiny. It goes over four different strategies that work for different types of play.
Method 1: Transfer Through Pokémon HOME
If you already own Rowlet, Dartrix, or Decidueye from older games, transferring is the easiest path. Rowlet has appeared across multiple titles, so you may already have one ready. Move it into Pokémon HOME, then bring it into Pokémon Scarlet and Violet once compatibility is available. If your old save is on 3DS, move it from Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME, then forward from there.
If you want full control, breeding is the most effective method to get shiny drops in a single-player method. To speed up egg production, start by getting Egg Power Level 2. Then, you should breed a Masuda Ditto with a Rowlet or Decidueye.

A Masuda Ditto is just a Ditto that speaks a different language than the game. This makes it more likely that eggs will hatch into shiny Pokémon. Put a Destiny Knot on the infant to help it get strong IVs. If your parent Decidueye has good stats and your Ditto is good, you can be sure to hatch an extremely strong Rowlet.
Your chances of getting a shiny go up considerably higher if you have the Shiny Charm and use the Masuda Method. Compared to random encounters, this makes the grind feel considerably shorter.
Method 2: Solo Masuda Method Breeding for Shiny Rowlet
Breeding is the best single-player method for shiny drops when you want full control. Start by grabbing Egg Power Level 2 to speed up egg generation. Then breed Rowlet (or Decidueye) with a Masuda Ditto.
A Masuda Ditto is simply a Ditto in a different language than your game. This boosts shiny odds from eggs. Add a Destiny Knot to help pass strong IVs down to the baby. If your parent Decidueye has strong stats and your Ditto is high quality, you can reliably hatch a very solid Rowlet.
If you have the Shiny Charm and also use the Masuda Method, your shiny odds improve even more. This makes the grind feel much shorter compared to random encounters.

Method 3: Multiplayer Union Circle Breeding
You can get around missing the raid or not having the line by breeding with other people. Meet up with a friend in Union Circle. They bring a member of the Decidueye line, and you bring a Ditto. Make an Egg Power sandwich and set up a lunch.
There are eggs in the basket. Take your eggs, turn off your OT, and then hatch them with them. Or try to get a shiny before your friend.
Pro Tip: How to Breed Poké Balls and Make Easy Egg Moves
If Decidueye breeds with Ditto, the baby gets the same Poké Ball as Decidueye. With two Decidueye in different balls, the baby inherits either ball about 50% of the time. After getting your desired ball, switch back to Ditto breeding to keep it consistent.

You may also add strong Egg Moves to your Rowlet line without having to make complex chains. Some useful options are Confuse Ray, Defog, Double Team, Knock Off, and Roost.
Get a Mirror Herb from Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa under combat items to finish it quickly. Check whether Rowlet has an empty move slot. Give Rowlet the Mirror Herb. Put Rowlet and one other Pokémon that already knows the move you want in your party. Start a picnic and then end it. The move goes to Rowlet, and from there, you can breed it down.
Method 4: Trade for a Different Poké Ball Rowlet With a Link Code
Trading is the fastest way to collect different ball variants. Use the link trade code 0722 0722 as a Rowlet-to-Rowlet trading hotline.

You can swap with someone else to get a different Poké Ball Rowlet if you got Decidueye in a certain Poké Ball and bred a Rowlet that works with that ball. It's a clean way to add to your collection without having to start breeding again.
