Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE is one of those action RPGs that can feel overwhelming initially. But having a good understanding of a few fundamental mechanics early on can greatly enhance the overall experience.
This guide will cover the essential tips and tricks to help you have a firm understanding of combat and reduce any perplexities early on.

1. Starting Class
Many of the RPG franchises make the starting class quintessential for development, but in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, the initial starting class will only affect your early skills.
You will eventually have to progress through the game's skill tree for almost every skill. So your initial choice won't necessarily restrict your long-term builds. You are better off picking anything you want.
2. Destroy Everything
Destroying everything from crystals, shards, objects, and debris that you run into can help rack up resources that you will probably need later down the line.
Not capitalizing on resources will greatly hamper your progression. As you may have a shortage of resources.
3. Camera Shake
The default camera shake makes the overall gameplay feel disorienting and chaotic, putting you at a disadvantage.
Turning it off can help create a cleaner and clearer way to visualize the overall setting of the game, especially during combat. A simple yet drastic improvement.

4. Number of Weapons
As for the number of weapons that you want to utilize, try sticking with two weapons instead of one or a handful. This keeps combat-efficient while also offering elemental coverage, giving you more opportunities to utilize combos.
Switching between the two weapons whilst in a fight (like in many other games) can also cancel certain animations, which can always be handy.
5. Skills to Prioritise
In the early stages of the game, you might be confused as to which skills you'll need to prioritize for your build. Typically, Agility and Intelligence tend to provide you with the best bang for your buck.
Agility greatly increases your crit rate and makes your dodges perfect and smoother, whereas Intelligence boosts MP and can also enhance a lot of early abilities.

6. Skills to Not Ignore
When building your character, do not skimp out on Physique and Monarch's Awakening. Physique will help improve your survivability, whereas Monarch's Awakening will let you initiate missions with partial transformation and can also give you massive power spikes.
7. Extreme Evasion
The Extreme Evasion is an important defensive ability where perfect dodges will slow time and trigger follow-ups.
This ability is capable of dealing significant damage when chained together. It's one of the strongest defensive and offensive tools that you can utilize, particularly in boss fights.

8. Deflects
Paying attention to your enemy's attacks is crucial, as heavy, slower attacks are the perfect moment to deflect if you time the block accurately as a hit. It will stagger the enemy and allow you to counter as well as rapidly charge your ultimate.
It's a technique that works particularly well against bosses, which often use repetitive, choreographed attacks that can be predictable.
9. Combining Effects
Combining various status effects is a great way of dealing with burst damage effects like Freeze, Scorch, Haunt, or Illuminate. It will boost skill damage when you stack them together.
You can do so by using one weapon to apply your primary status and counting on your second weapon or another hunter to apply the second.
10. Utilise Statuses
Hunter summons in the game are a great way to stack secondary status effects. Instead of relying solely on MP and doing everything yourself, allowing a hunter to handle it can greatly improve resource management.

11. Mission Ranks
High mission ranks like S or SSS are less about just spamming various combos and more about doing it efficiently. It's important that you avoid taking damage and mix up your skills while maintaining your chain, rather than just spamming.
With these tips and tricks at hand, you’ll hopefully have a far easier time getting a hold of things in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.
