Here’s a guide on how to build a Base in Soulmask.

When starting your journey in Soulmask, your first priority is finding a spot with fresh water nearby. You will need it for breeding animals and staying alive.

While you clear out the grass and sticks, watch your pack. Carrying too much stuff makes you slow. If your weight gets too high, you will only be able to walk, which makes you an easy target for a Saber-toothed Predator.

Learning to Build

Open your menu with Tab to find the Thatch Foundation. You must go into the Technology Tree and learn Basic Building first. This also lets you make Thick Rope in Soulmask.

You should also learn how to make Walls, Stairs, and a Roof. Having a Door is a good idea for your first home to keep out unwanted guests.

Starting Construction

Make a lot of Thick Rope to start. Most things you build will need some. Making rope also helps you get better at Weaving Proficiency. If it gets too dark to see, use a Torch. Put your Foundations on your bar and place them by the water.

If you want to see outside, hold Z while placing a wall to pick a Window Wall. This helps you spot threats before they get close.

Setting Up Your Bonfire

A Bonfire is a big deal for your base. It keeps your house from rotting away over time through the Base Decay mechanic. These take up a lot of room, so make sure your floor is big enough in Soulmask.

If you put something in the wrong spot, you can just pick it back up to get your wood and grass back. Remember to keep it lit, as a cold fire won't protect your structures.

Meeting New Tribesmen

A Vagabond might walk up to your base while you work. These are Tribesmen who want to be on your team. They might talk about the Flint Tribe or give you tips.

You can give these people tasks like gathering wood or managing your Bonfire fuel so you don't have to do everything yourself in Soulmask.
