Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2 reimagines dystopia with immutable builds, trench-war satire, and absurd combat, just in time to hijack Halloween 2025. This guide will cover the Pickpocketing Mechanism.

Pickpocketing rewards due with key cards, rare ammo or crafting materials and can’t even trigger hidden objectives. It’s a minimal investment, but it add significant value to almost any build.

The pickpocketing mechanism in The Outer Worlds 2 requires you to unlock a specific skill beforehand the Lockpicking skill.

After that, using the skill tree, you’ll be able to unlock the Pickpocket ability.

After unlocking the skill, you’ll be able to rob any unsuspecting characters by going behind them whilst remaining undetected. If you make noise or are seen, you will not be able to use the Pickpocket Mechanism.

When you are close enough behind, press the Square button on the controller or its equivalent to initiate the robbery.

This will open up an inventory, allowing you to pick specific items that you wish to rob; this is nice, as you won't be collecting junk that you don’t need.

Getting caught will lead you to be in trouble, so as mentioned before, it’s important that you go unnoticed and be quick.

To summarize, to pickpocket in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll need to unlock the Pickpocket Ability after reaching level one on Lockpicking, followed by going behind a target undetected.
