New gaming laptops coming out in 2026 will feature updated designs, minor tech upgrades, and a few really cool new ideas. Almost every big brand is coming out with something new, but there aren't any huge generational jumps.

Before you can understand what these machines can really do, you should take a look at the changes to the CPU and GPU that will power them.

CPU and GPU Updates for 2026 Gaming Laptops

Latest Nvidia Updates

There is no news from Nvidia about new laptop GPUs. Instead, the goal is to make software better. In DLSS4.5, a second-generation transformer model is added, and multi-frame generation can now reach 6X, meaning that for every real frame, 5 synthetic frames are generated.

More importantly, Nvidia is adding dynamic frame generation. This means extra frames are only generated when more speed is needed, rather than forcing games to stay at a higher multiplier all the time. These two improvements should both come out in the spring.

New from AMD

AMD hasn't said anything about new mobile GPUs either. When it comes to CPUs, there are new laptop processors in the Ryzen 400 series. Since these chips are still based on the Zen5 architecture from last year, they still have speed that is pretty close to what was available in 2025.

The maximum boost clock on some models, like the 475, 470, and 450, is 100MHz higher. These models also allow faster memory and have better NPUs.

AMD has also added new 12-core and 8-core Strix Halo models with better graphics to its range. The Radeon8060S GPU is used in these chips. It's the same GPU as the 16-core version used in last year's ASUS Flow Z13, but now options with fewer cores can deliver more GPU power.

Updates from Intel

In 2026, Intel will make a big push for laptops with the Core Ultra3 Series, which is also known as Panther Lake. These processors are designed for thinner, lighter computers, like the ASUS Zephyrus G14 and G16. Intel says that they can have up to 16 cores and threads, with 4Pcores, 8Ecores, and 4LPEcores making up the rest.

Some of these chips come with Intel's brand-new B390 graphics chips built in. Intel says that its new integrated graphics are up to 76% better in games than its old ones and are even 82% better than AMD's.

Intel also says that this iGPU can perform better than an RTX 4050 using 60 watts of power. If these claims are true, this could be a big deal for handheld devices and low-end game laptops.

There is still not much information available about more advanced HX processors. A small update is expected in the spring, and these HX chips will power high-end gaming laptops.

Several manufacturers are already using the term "Core Ultra200HX series" in their materials, suggesting that Intel is sticking with the same naming scheme rather than releasing a whole new line of processors with only minor speed boosts.

ASUS Gaming Laptops for 2026

ASUS is bringing back the Zephyrus Duo16, but this version looks very different from the last one. It no longer has a smaller secondary screen; instead, it has two full 16-inch 120Hz OLED touchscreens. It is the first dual 16-inch gaming laptop of its kind and has a total diagonal screen size of over 21 inches.

For normal laptop use, a detachable Bluetooth keyboard can sit on the lower screen, but the 90-degree kickstand and 320-degree hinge let you move it. It cools down better when the air openings are not pressed directly against a desk, which is another benefit of this design.

The Duo16 can be set up with an Intel Core Ultra386H processor and RTX 5090 graphics at 135watts. It also comes with the same 90Wh battery as the Zephyrus G16.

Several improvements have been made to the Zephyrus G16 itself. It can still handle graphics cards up to RTX 5090, but the GPU power cap has increased from 130 watts to 160 watts due to better cooling. That means it's likely the RTX 5070 Ti version will also get more power, from 125 watts to the full 140 watts that Nvidia allows.

When HDR mode is enabled, the new OLED screen can reach 1100 nits. In SDR mode, it will probably be closer to 500nits. There are now 35 lighting zones instead of 7 for the slash lighting on the lid, which makes it look better. One of the few problems with the old model was that the screen wobbled. A new hinge is meant to fix this problem.

The smaller Zephyrus G14 also gets the same changes. The Core Ultra386H processor is the first Intel processor used in a laptop. It also has a brighter OLED screen, a better hinge, more lighting zones on the lid, and 10watts more power for the GPU.

The cap goes up from 120 watts to 130 watts with the RTX 5080. ASUS has also changed the MicroSD slot to a full-sized SD card reader, which is good news for people who like to make things.

There is still an AMD option for the G14, but it appears to be compatible only with the 2025 chassis. The design for 2026 isn't very different from the current one, but if you choose AMD, you won't get the extra GPU power that the new Intel models offer.

The Zephyrus G16 does not come in an AMD version, and neither the G14 nor the G16 has Thunderbolt 5. The keyboards also have only single-zone RGB lighting.

Plus, ASUS's TUF A14 gets a new look with an AMD Strix Halo version called the Max+392. It has 12 cores and 24 threads, and the powerful 8060S graphics are built in. You can still pair an AMD CPU with an Nvidia GPU, though.

Lenovo Gaming Laptops for 2026

The Legion7a is a new gaming laptop from Lenovo that comes with AMD Ryzen 400-series processors and Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics. It's pretty much an AMD version of the Legion7i from last year, but it's said to be 10% lighter and 5% smaller.

This is probably because AMD chips need less power than Intel HX chips. Lenovo says the Legion7a will feature RTX 5060 graphics at its best. This is less powerful than the RTX5070 graphics in last year's Intel model.

Lenovo also adds the 11th-generation Legion 5i and Legion 5a to the Legion 5 line. The Legion5i has processors from Intel's Core Ultra3 Series, while the Legion5a has processors from AMD's updated Ryzen 400 line. The OLED screen ranges from 15.1 to 15.3 inches, suggesting mostly minor changes to the specs.

Along with a new CPU, the LOQ series now has a 15.3-inch 16:10 IPS display instead of the older 16:9 panel, which was starting to look dated. All of these Lenovo computers should show up in April 2026.

Lenovo also showed off a Legion Pro rollable concept with a 16-inch OLED screen that can be quickly expanded to 24 inches. Really great idea, and I can't wait to see it become a real thing.

Acer Gaming Laptops for 2026

Acer's changes are more controversial. It was one of the best-selling gaming laptops of 2017 thanks to its great value and RTX 5070 Ti graphics. Acer has knocked it down to an RTX5070 for 2026. Because of VRAM limits, that change makes it less appealing, which makes it harder to suggest.

The new model also has Intel's Core Ultra386H processor, which may not be as fast as last year's 275HX in multicore performance. It's possible that Acer should have stuck with the old model instead of this one since it won't be available until Q32026.

The new Intel processors can be installed in the Nitro V16 and Nitro V16S, and up to RTX 5070 graphics cards can be added. Because the Nitro line is meant to be affordable, these trade-offs make more sense here.

HP HyperX Gaming Laptops

Like the Omen MAX16, the HyperX Omen MAX16 is now what models like it used to be called. It might take a while to get used to the new brand name, but the tech updates are more important. Thanks to improved thermals and a new 460-watt GaN charger for Intel models or 420 watts for AMD models, the MAX16 gets an extra 50 watts of power, which is about a 20% boost.

It works with AMD Ryzen 400 processors and Intel's future Core Ultra 200HX refresh. It can also handle graphics cards up to the RTX 5090. The keyboard is now four times as fast as before, with a polling rate of 1000Hz, and the OLED screen is better. The launch is set for spring 2026.

Also, HP is releasing a new Omen 15 laptop that comes with RTX 5050, 5060, or 5070 graphics and up to 170 watts of total CPU and GPU power. It can be powered by either Intel or AMD. With a combined power cap of 200 watts, redesigned thermals, and better overall specs, the Omen16 takes this even further.

Alienware Gaming Laptops for 2026

Alienware is launching two new gaming laptops. The first is an ultra-thin version that will be about 17 mm thick and come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes in the spring. After the X14 R2 was discontinued, this marks a return to smaller form factors.

The second is a new low-cost game laptop, but not much is known about it. Alienware said that the 16X Aurora, 16 Area-51, and 18 Area-51 will still be made this year. The basic 16 Aurora isn't there, suggesting the new entry-level model may have taken its place.

In 2026, both the Alienware 16X Aurora and the 16 Area-51 will have OLED screens that can reach up to 620 nits. These models also mention Intel's upcoming Core Ultra200HX refresh, but they don't go into much detail yet.

Gigabyte Gaming Laptops

The Aorus Master16 from Gigabyte has a major update: it can now be configured with AMD's 9955HX3D chip and RTX 5090 graphics. It doesn't work with low-end GPUs like some of its competitors do. On the other hand, the Aero X16 only gets a simple CPU upgrade to AMD's Ryzen 400 series.

MSI Gaming Laptops

MSI adds a new Max version to its Raider16 line. This model comes with an optional OLED screen, an upgrade-friendly bottom panel that doesn't need any tools, and Intel's upcoming HX engine refresh.

It provides a total of 300 watts of power to the CPU and GPU. This year, the Stealth16 is available only in Intel configurations, in line with a larger trend in the business.

XMG and Schenker Modular Laptop

The Element16, which was made by XMG and Intel together, has one of the more interesting shapes. It is designed to be modular and easy to fix. The bottom panel can be quickly removed, the keyboard can be removed, and the port sections on both sides can be swapped.

XMG plans to support motherboard updates in the future, allowing users to switch from Core Ultra3 Series processors to later platforms. Separate graphics aren't mentioned, but Intel's new GPUs should still be able to handle light games.

Razer Gaming Laptops

Razer didn't say anything about any special laptop updates. But it would be strange if the Blade 14, 16, and 18 models did not receive updated processors at some point.

Final Thoughts on 2026 Gaming Laptops

Overall, most gaming computers released in 2026 are small steps rather than big leaps. In 2025, if you got a gaming laptop, you are still in a good place.

The new generation makes the most sense if you want a specific style or feature, like the ASUS Zephyrus Duo 16 with two screens or Lenovo's Legion 7A with an AMD processor. Even though there aren't many new ideas this year, the 2026 list has a few great ones that are worth keeping an eye on.
