As memory prices decline, AMD is adding to its X3D processor family. The return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, broader availability of the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, and introduction of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 mean more options for all budgets.

This may be the best time to build a PC, as DDR4 and DDR5 memory prices are also beginning to drop.

Ryzen 7 5800X3D Makes a Comeback.

AMD is reportedly preparing to re-release the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The leaks indicate that the new version will retain the same core and clock speed settings as the previous version, with an 8-core, 16-thread count, 4.5GHz boost clock, 100MB of total cache, and a 105W thermal design power rating.

There have also been reports of a new packaging design that includes a decal celebrating the 10th anniversary. This lends weight to the speculation. The official release date has not yet been announced. Still, the processor could be here soon, either at a major event or simply a product announcement.

Price will be key. For new systems, it should be around $200. For AM4 users, it could be worth paying up to $249. We've seen the Ryzen 7 5700X3D go for less than $200, so we will need to see the price cut for 5800X3D to be competitive.

Ryzen 5 7600X3D is now widely available. It's readily available at online retailers and is already down to $229. This makes it one of the best gaming CPUs on the market. In our testing, it's very comparable to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, with a performance deficit of just 11fps in high-end 1080p gaming.

If the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is more reasonably priced in your country, it should be considered as well. But for the time being, 7600X3D is a better value.

AMD has released the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with double 3D V-Cache for its 16 cores and 32 threads. It appears to be the perfect gaming/production workhorse. In reality, the outcome is a bit more complicated.

Power consumption is the major issue. 9950X3D2 can consume up to 298W, compared to the regular 9950X3D. And for most, its $899 price tag is hard to justify.

AMD's AM4 CPUs are still worth considering, particularly with the drop in DDR4 prices. Ryzen 5 5500 has had a price cut, and the Ryzen 5 5600 is now more widely available. Ryzen 7 5700X has also got a slight price reduction. If the 5800X3D is priced around $199, it will be a great upgrade for gamers on the AM4 platform.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is well priced at $229. It works faster in games and costs less than the Ryzen 7 7700X. Even though it costs a little more than the Ryzen 5 9600X, the X3D chip is still a better choice for game builds.

We also have great motherboard and memory combinations, further enhancing the value of AM5 systems.

Top-end X3D CPUs are getting cheaper. Ryzen 7 7800X3D is now available for $359, and the Ryzen 7 9850X3D has seen a minor price cut. These reductions make AMD's top gaming CPUs even more enticing.

However, it's still not a great choice at $899 for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.

Intel still holds up well in some areas. Core i5-12400 is again a great alternative to the Ryzen 5 5600. Core i5-12600KF is particularly attractive, with some packages effectively almost halving its price.

The newer Core Ultra 250K Plus is also well-priced. But the Core Ultra 270K Plus is currently well above its recommended retail price (MSRP), so it's less worth buying.

DDR4 prices are finally coming down. Whereas a 16GB kit would have cost you about $135, you can now buy it for about $120. And some sales drive the cost down even further. And 32GB kits are getting much cheaper, with more coming in under $200.

DDR5 is getting cheaper. The price of 16GB kits has dropped from close to $250 in January to $215 now. High-speed kits with RGB illumination are also now more affordable.

32GB of DDR5 memory that was going for close to $400 a few months ago is now commonly available for closer to $349, with some sales as low as $329.

This makes AM5 much more accessible than it was even a few months ago. Best Budget Gaming CPU in April 2026 Ryzen 5 5500 is still the best value for less than $500.

It offers an extremely low total cost, particularly with new combo bundle offers. It is still a good option if you're eyeing the RTX 5060 or Radeon RX 9060. The Ryzen 5 7600X bundles are also great, providing AM5 performance at a very affordable price.

Ryzen 5 7600X3D is the best mid-range CPU. It delivers exceptional gaming performance for a reasonable cost. If you can snag a Ryzen 5 7500X3D for less money in your region, it's also a great choice.

With the cost of B650 and B850 Motherboards and DDR5 RAM Coming Down.

This is currently an Intel-only market. Core Ultra 265K provides the best overall value. At the same time, the Core Ultra 270K Plus offers superior gaming performance and is a great productivity CPU. AMD's Ryzen 9 9900X is a good alternative if you want to upgrade to AM5 in the future.

Ryzen 7 9850X3D is the best choice for gaming. It offers the best performance without the price and power consumption of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. Ryzen 5 7600X3D and Ryzen 5 7500X3D still offer top-notch value, even in the high-performance market.

The Ryzen 9 9950X is still a good choice for people who need power for work. It works really well with multiple cores and costs a lot less than the 9950X3D2. The non-3D 9950X is the better choice if all you need is the best speed for workstations and games. Core Ultra 265K and 270K Plus from Intel are also very attractive.

Memory prices continue to decline, and graphics cards are getting cheaper, too. There are likely to be more drops later in the year, but prices now are already good.

We think it's a good time to build in the low- to mid-range. In particular, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is one of the best CPUs for gaming. High-end builds are also great value thanks to combo deals on the likes of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. SSD prices are still high, but they are the only major component holding out against the downward trend.

AMD's new X3D releases could not have come at a better time. Lower RAM prices, better motherboard offers, and more choices make this an ideal time to build.

If you are looking to refresh an existing AM4 system, a new AM5 gaming PC, or a workstation, April 2026 has something for everyone.
