GTA 6 Set to Drop with PlayStation 5 Pro Bundle, but a Delay Might Be on The Cards

Sony and Rockstar Games have long enjoyed a close partnership, one that has always benefited both companies. This time around with Rockstar’s greatly anticipated GTA 6, it’s no different. Recent reports have suggested that Rockstar and Sony are once again working together behind the scenes, with Sony engineers assisting Rockstar to optimize the game for the PS5 Pro.

The collaboration appears set to continue with GTA 6, as new leaks surface, hinting at a collaboration bundle involving the upcoming PS5 Pro. Rockstar is currently aiming for a May 2026 release date for GTA 6. However, internal talks point to another delay pushing the game to September of that year, adding insult to injury for fans of the franchise. Still, it does make sense given Rockstar’s track record.

These details are unconfirmed but have been circulating because of credible sources that are responsible for the leak. The pricing model is another point to be noted, which includes a standard edition at $69.99, a deluxe version at $89.99, and a premium edition, featuring early access to GTA Online, for a whopping $109.99. The prices do seem eye-watering, but so is the wait for GTA 6. 

This early access element is one of the most talked-about features, reminding people of Rockstar’s previous approach with GTA 5, where the online mode launched shortly after the single-player campaign. Considering the popularity of GTA Online, it makes sense that Rockstar is going to capitalize on early entry for eager fans.

The Premium and Deluxe editions could become must-haves if you want a head start in the new online world. The news has gained mixed reception, with many frustrated at the extortionate prices. The leak also hints at a marketing campaign from Sony, including special PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro bundles featuring GTA 6 and post-launch promotions to boost hardware sales.

This aligns perfectly with Sony’s history of tailgating on Rockstar’s biggest releases to boost console sales and to keep an upper hand in the ever-growing market. PlayStation has been marketed as the ultimate destination for GTA players, a strategy that continues to pay dividends to date. 

Hopes are high for a Spring 2026 release, but fans are still doubtful given the long wait we’ve already endured. The idea of a potential delay to fall has been discussed before and seems plausible given the expectations surrounding GTA 6. Rockstar is famous for prioritizing quality; even if it means another delay, Rockstar would want to release its premier cash cow in optimal condition.

Vice City may or may not be on your screens this upcoming May, but the GTA 6 hype train has certainly arrived, and we are just getting on board. 

Rockstar is thorough with their work, so we can expect a prim and polished GTA 6, for arguably the most hyped installment of the series, but they are also unforgiving. If a 13-year-long wait wasn’t enough already, you may be in for the longest 13 months of your life.
