There was a lot of talk about Injustice 3 on the internet, which got fighting game fans and DC fans very excited. Some reports on the internet claim that Injustice 3 is confirmed, but the truth is a little more complicated. Still, there are numerous signs that NetherRealm Studios is working on the long-awaited third superhero fighting game, and a statement may be forthcoming sooner than most people thought.

As expected, voice actors were at the start of the current wave of rumors. There is a reputation in the gaming world for actors who do voice work for well-known characters to forget important information. Many rumors have been spread over the years because of accidental leaks. These can occur due to excitement, casual conversation, or a lapse in attention to a non-disclosure agreement. From what I can tell, Injustice 3 is like the last game of the series.

New reports indicate that Phil LaMarr, the veteran actor who portrays Green Lantern John Stewart, has stated that the next Injustice game is already in development. After signing a fan's book and hearing how great he was as John Stewart, LaMarr apparently said, You know they're making another one. They are making Injustice 3.

Even though they're bound by an NDA, that's a pretty bold statement. But voice actors have a history of accidentally leaking secrets, so it's not impossible. Another similar report stated that George Newbern, famous for voicing Superman, revealed that Injustice 3 is his current project. The fan's excited post went viral online right away, but it was later taken down because the fan said he had misinterpreted what Newbern meant.

People were even more suspicious after he suddenly changed his mind, and some joked that Warner Bros. sent agents to quiet him. Technically, this could have been a misunderstanding, but the claim is so detailed that it raises questions. Aside from the rumors, there are other strong reasons to think that Injustice 3 is coming soon.

Ed Boon, who helped create Mortal Kombat and is now the creative head at NetherRealm, has stated that Injustice 3 was in development at one point. However, problems arose during the pandemic, and Warner Bros.' priorities shifted, so the company decided to release Mortal Kombat 1 instead. Boon also said that they would return to Injustice after Mortal Kombat 1 came out.

This comment sounds pretty good now that support for MK1 ended in May. At the same time, Warner Bros. Games underwent a major reorganization, and NetherRealm's leadership was granted increased control over DC video game projects.

DC Studios co-head James Gunn stated that he had talked with both Rocksteady about future DC games, which added to the game's credibility. Because of all of this, NetherRealm is the clear choice to make the next Injustice game.

The real question is not if the reveal will happen, but when. September could be very important. The Tokyo Game Show is scheduled to take place, and PlayStation is also reportedly planning a major event around the same time.

More importantly, NetherRealm's annual E3 event, featuring the Final Kombat e-sports tournament, takes place from September 26 to 28 and can be watched live on HBO Max. In the past, these tournaments have been where big secrets were revealed, like the first gameplay video of Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11.

Now that MK1's content cycle is over, NetherRealm can show off its next big project, which is expected to be Injustice 3. If not at Final Kombat, The Game Awards in December are a great place for a world presentation. A flashy video featuring Superman, Batman, or Harley Quinn would easily steal the show on Geoff Keighley's show, which has become a platform for major announcements.

Fans will continue to analyze every slip of the tongue and every mysterious hint until then. Several factors have made it clear that Injustice 3 is more likely than ever. These include Phil LaMarr's signing session, George Newbern's almost-confessional moment, and Ed Boon's history of subtle social media hints. After this, all that's left is to wait for Warner Bros. and NetherRealm to confirm the news.
