It looks like Insomniac Games is about to start the busiest and most exciting time in its history. There have been new leaks, internal documents, and gameplay videos showing that the company behind Marvel's Spider-Man is working on a bunch of huge games for the PS6 generation.

From Wolverine from Marvel to a full X-Men game, a Venom spin-off, and eventually Spider-Man 3, it looks like Insomniac will be in charge of Sony for the next ten years. Recent gameplay footage of Marvel's Wolverine and new rumors that Marvel's Venom: The Lethal Protector is still in development show that Insomniac's production process isn't slowing down at all.

Reports say the company is preparing for several big-budget releases in the late 2020s and early 2030s. This means that Marvel fans and PlayStation players will have a lot to look forward to. The newest information says that Wolverine will be the first big launch, coming in the fall of 2026. This is Insomniac's darkest and most violent game yet.

It has violent gameplay, semi-open world maps, and a rougher look than the Spider-Man games, giving it a tone more like God of War. Madre, a lawless island from the books, is featured in the game, bringing intense, visceral action to the forefront.

Australian actor Liam McIntyre has been revealed as Logan's voice actor and likeness. The official reveal trailer gave us our first good look at the game, after large chunks of gameplay were leaked online previously. There are already characters like Omega Red and Mystique that look a lot like the long-rumored X-Men game set to come out in the early 2030s.

Wolverine could be the basis for Insomniac's X-Men world.

Behind the scenes, Insomniac is trying to save and change Marvel's Venom: The Lethal Protector at the same time. The game was supposed to come out in 2025, but it has been pushed back. This is allegedly because the Carnage-focused DLC for Spider-Man 2 was canceled, which was supposed to connect Venom, Carnage, Peter, and Yuri.

Voice actor Tony Todd recorded a lot more lines than were ever used in Spider-Man 2. This has led to rumors that the Venom game will use old material, like mini-bosses like Lasher, Riot, Agony, and Phage that were cut. Early internal plans even called for three possible characters, possibly Peter Parker, Miles Morales, or Yuri Watanabe. However, recent changes to the company may have changed these plans.

There were also hints that Knull, the god of symbiotes, might show up. The meteorite and some of Spider-Man 2's corrupted enemies bore his mark during the symbiote arc. Knull is too big of a bad guy for a side task, but it's still not clear where he fits in: as an enemy in the Venom game or as a threat in Spider-Man 3.

It's still not clear what Knull does in Insomniac's world.

Looking further ahead, Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is the most important game coming out soon for Insomniac. It's supposed to come out between 2028 and 2029, most likely on the PlayStation 6. Brian Intihar's team is said to be working on the early stages of this project while also helping with the production of Venom.

A lot of figures are set to return in the third movie in the Spider-Man trilogy, including Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, Chameleon, Silk, Carnage, and most likely Venom. After his break, Peter Parker is likely to take back the role, and Miles' growth as a hero will be a big plot point. The Carnage plotline was supposed to be expanded through DLC at first, but it's now likely to become part of the main plot of Spider-Man 3.

The sequel was supposed to come out in 2027, but it looks like it will be released later to keep up with Sony's release schedule: Wolverine in 2026, Venom in 2027, and Spider-Man 3 the next year.

Spider-Man 3 is meant to be the first big superhero game for the PS6.

The full-scale Marvel's X-Men game, which was shown in the secret Insomniac roadmap as a project for the 2030s, is even more ambitious. This game is supposed to be the straight follow-up to Wolverine. You'll be able to play as many characters as you want, including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, and maybe even Magneto or Mystique.

It is said the game's mission structures will differ for each character, but it's still unclear whether tasks can be completed repeatedly with different heroes.

The game's release coincides with the planned X-Men movie in the MCU, suggesting that Sony and Marvel are working well together. Reports say that Insomniac wants to make spin-offs of different X-Men if players like them, like how Miles Morales grew into Venom and became his own game.

The rumored pipeline also included an undisclosed new IP still in the early stages of development. A new Ratchet & Clank game, a whole new world, or another Marvel figure could be it. A lot of fans want a Daredevil game, especially since the character is becoming more famous again thanks to Daredevil: Born Again, Punisher spin-offs, and other MCU crossovers.

Could Daredevil finally become the next big hero for people who can't sleep?

It looks like the PS6 generation will be very important to these projects. Open-world games are likely to change a lot as AI, cloud computing, and environmental damage get better. It is said that Insomniac is testing out dynamic phone conversations, AI companions, and more realistic city settings. All of these technologies could make the experience much more immersive.

Sony had already dropped several live-service projects, leaving Insomniac to handle most of the PS5's content. This generation, the company made more big games than any other first-party PlayStation team. This makes it one of Sony's most valuable assets. Soon, they will have better tools and gear, which could help them make even more.

Marvel's Spider-Man: The Great Web, a multiplayer live-service game that was dropped when Sony reorganized, is still a topic of discussion. Fans have kept pushing for it to be brought back, and some modders have even made new versions of parts of it. Since Insomniac is too busy to work on it again, Sony may give the idea to another team in the future.

NetEase's upcoming game Ananta has gotten a lot of attention because its fighting and movement animations look a lot like Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The game combines parts of Spider-Man, Watch Dogs, Sleeping Dogs, Arkham, and GTA to make an open-world MMO that will come out in 2026. It could fill in the time between official Marvel games for fans who are waiting.

There may be a Spider-Man game before Venom and Spider-Man 3.

As Insomniac gets deeper into the next generation of consoles, fans are being asked to let the company know what IP they want to work on next, such as a Daredevil, Punisher, or Cyclops spin-off. With multiple Marvel universes already established, a growing cast of characters, and Sony relying heavily on their work, Insomniac Games will be able to shape the future of PlayStation stories for years to come.
