If you've been waiting to see more of Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer, there's finally something to check out. Activision has shared a first look at Kill Block, a brand-new adaptive multiplayer map that will be playable at Fanatics Fest in New York City from July 16 to July 19. More importantly, the announcement strongly suggests you'll be getting your first proper multiplayer reveal on July 16.
The short preview focuses on Kill Block, a map that stands out because it doesn't stay the same between matches. Every time you play, the layout changes, so each round feels different rather than relying on the same routes and angles over and over.

The trailer also shows something players haven't seen before.
Three sections of the map rise up from the ground before the match begins, giving you a better idea of how Kill Block is assembled. Earlier versions of the map didn't include that animation, so it wasn't as obvious how the different pieces fit together.
One section is immediately recognizable if you've spent enough time with older Call of Duty maps. The middle portion clearly resembles Highrise, complete with the familiar helicopter, landing pad, staircases, and elevator area. The other two sections don't appear to match Highrise and could be pulled from other classic maps, although they haven't been officially identified.
The trailer also seems to show what look like dedicated starting areas at opposite ends of the map. Rather than simply spawning players into the action, these areas could serve as proper starting points for each team before matches begin, making the opening moments feel more structured.
Kill Block isn't just about changing scenery.
The map itself is designed to rotate different sections every couple of rounds. For example, Highrise could appear in the middle for one set of rounds, then be replaced by another classic location while the surrounding sections also change. You could eventually see combinations similar to Crash, Shoot House, or other familiar multiplayer maps mixed together, although not every classic map has been confirmed as part of the system.
The overall size isn't built around tiny arenas like Shipment either. Instead, Kill Block is closer to the scale of Shoot House, giving you enough room for regular Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer action without becoming an oversized battlefield. Although early gameplay included a 10v10 Gunfight mode with a single life per round and standard health values, Kill Block isn't limited to that playlist.
You'll also be able to play traditional multiplayer modes like Search and Destroy, Domination, and other standard game types on the map.
Gunfight works a little differently on Kill Block because the environment changes every two rounds, meaning you'll constantly be adapting to new layouts during a match instead of memorizing one version of the arena.

The timing of Activision's announcement also gives you a strong clue about when Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer will receive its full spotlight. Fanatics Fest runs from July 16 through July 19, and the wording of the announcement suggests that gameplay and additional details will be shared directly at the event.
That makes July 16 the most likely date for your first major multiplayer presentation. Whether that includes a full multiplayer trailer, an extended livestream, or both remains unclear, but new information is expected to begin arriving as soon as the event starts.
There's also growing discussion about how Kill Block could be used beyond standard playlists.
Because the map constantly changes while remaining compact, it fits competitive formats especially well. Gunfight tournaments appear to be a natural match, especially if Activision introduces a more polished tournament system than previous versions, which often suffered from menu issues and connection problems.
The idea could even expand beyond Gunfight. Weekend tournaments for Search and Destroy, Control, and other competitive modes would give players more reasons to keep returning while offering prizes and rotating events throughout the year, rather than letting Kill Block become a one-time novelty.
Alongside the multiplayer news, there's another Call of Duty update worth paying attention to. Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 have both received fresh updates on PlayStation's backend, adding further evidence that their PlayStation 5 versions are nearing release.
These projects are believed to be straightforward ports rather than full remasters or remakes.
That means you shouldn't expect rebuilt graphics, but improvements like smoother frame rates or possibly even a field-of-view slider remain possible. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, both games are still showing up in the PlayStation database with new updates.

Recent backend updates, including versions 1.02 and 1.03, which arrived just days apart, suggest development is moving quickly. With the July 4 holiday and weekends making a release less likely, the window between July 6 and July 10 now looks like the strongest possibility for those ports to become available.
Overall, the current schedule is fairly clear. The Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 PlayStation ports appear to be approaching first, while Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer looks ready to take center stage beginning on July 16, with what should be your first substantial look at the game's multiplayer experience and the adaptive Kill Block map.
