Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta Launches This Summer

Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated action adventure Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception won’t be out until November of this year, but the developer is giving you a chance to play through its multiplayer in an open beta that will kick off a few months from now. The open beta announcement was made through the Playstation Blog this week.

You get to do this. ONLY in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer.

The beta will launch in June 28 for Playstation Plus subscribers only. Also, those who purchased "specially marked copies" of inFamous 2 will get first dibs on the action as well. Non-PS Plus subscribers need not worry though, as they’ll also get a chance to play the beta on July 5th. No codes will be necessary. Like the Killzone 3 open beta before it, just download it off the Playstation Store, install it and you’re in.

The beta will include 2 maps for people to play on, as well as multiple variants of Team Deathmatch. They’re also aiming to capitalize on the team environment, letting people spawn near a teammate when they’re safe from combat. The multiplayer will also include weapon customization, and a new feature that will allow you to do the same for your character. Naughty Dog is also experimenting on the social networking side of things, giving you the opportunity to upload your matches directly to Facebook or Youtube.

This beta is certainly a great way to spend the summer, don’t you think? Of course I’ll give it a go when it comes around, and I hope to see some of you NoobFeeders in the beta!
