A Brief Summary Of Next Generation Launch Titles
The Xbox One and PS4 are coming soon and so are a lot of new titles.

This list is for next-generation games. Titles like Diablo 3, which has been confirmed for current-generation consoles but only one next-generation console, which be treated as an exclusive title for the console that it was confirmed for until the company says otherwise.
PlayStation 4 Exclusives
DC Universe Online - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Sony has decided to join into the free-to-play market by introducing DC Universe Online. The MMORPG based on the fictional universe of DC comics will feature all the elements from the PS3 and PC release.
Diablo 3 - PlayStation 4 TBA - Launch Title
Blizzard Entertainment’s popular action role-playing title was announced at Sony’s conference in February that it will be coming to the PlayStation 4 (as well as a PS3 and Xbox 360). Taking place 20 years after the events of Diablo II Diablo III features a new online auction house, which allows players to trade items for in game or real life currency, and a artisan features to craft materials. Diablo III has already set records for being the most PC game sold in 2012.
DriveClub - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
In development at Evolution Studios and being published by Sony Driveclub will focus on road racing. Announced at Sony’s press conference in February the title will feature high resolutions and detail graphics to ensure that each car looks fantastic. At E3 we got to see the gameplay of Driveclub and see the different tracks we’ll be able to drive on and the various locations that will be featured throughout the title.
Killzone: Shadow Fall - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Taking place 30 years after the events of Killzone 3 the Helghast world has been left in ruins, but the war wages on. The ISA have allowed the Helghast refugees to settle on the planet Vektan, but have been divided by a security wall. Now a war between the Vektans and the Helghast has started. This will be the sixth game in the Killzone franchise and will be a launch title for the PS4.
Knack - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Developed by Japan Studio, in cooperation with game designer Mark Cerny, and published by Sony Knack platformer that will be launching for the PS4 on day one. The protagonist, Knack, is a small creature that was created to win a war against a goblin army. Knack has an unusual ability to meld other materials into his body to increase his size and strength. While Knack hasn’t garnered the same appeal as other PS4 titles it’s still a worthy title to look into, and it might surprise all of us when it’s finally released.
Planetside 2 - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
DC Universe Online isn’t the only free-to-play title coming to PS4, Plantside 2 will also be joining. The MMOFPS and will feature the same three fractions fighting over territorial control of the planet Auraxis.
Warframe - PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Warframe is a free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter, developed by Digital Extremes, being released for PS4 and released in March for PC. Players take control of a member of Tenno, an ancient warrior who have awoken from centuries of cryosleep and pushed into a war with a race of militarized humans called Grineer and the Corpus. Warframe will be released on the PS4 at launch.
Xbox One Exclusives
Dead Rising 3 - Xbox One - Launch Title
At E3 Dead Rising 3 emerged from the grave and was revealed to be an Xbox One exclusive title. Following the legacy of the past Dead Rising game you‘ll take control of new comer mechanic Nick Ramos, ten years after the events of Dead Rising 2, as his attempts to survive the zombie apocalypse in Los Perdidos, California by gathering supplies and crafting weapons. Dead Rising 3 will utilize both the Kinect 2.0 and Xbox SmartGlass, giving zombies situational awareness where they can become alert from sounds heard by the Kinect or distracted.
Forza Motorsport 5 - Xbox One TBA - Launch Title
The Forza series has earned a reputation of being one the best racing simulation on the market, rivaling Gran Turismo. Now the next installment in the Forza series, Forza Motorsport 5, will be arriving when the Xbox One launches and will feature more licensed cars, tracks, and improved multiplayer function.
LocoCycle - Xbox One & Xbox 360 - Launch Title
Developed by Twisted Pixel, the people behind Comic Jumper and the Splosion Man series, LocoCycle stars I.R.I.S., a sentient mototcycle that can perform 40 forms of combat and speak 50 languages. It can also cloak and travel a mile in 20 seconds. All while dragging a mechanic named Pablo who dangles from the back wheel of the Motorcycle.
Killer Instinct - Xbox One - Launch Title
It’s been over a decade since we last saw a Killer Instinct title but now a new edition to the dormant franchise is being released exclusively on the Xbox One. Simply called Killer Instinct, developed by Double Helix Games, will include Jago, Glacius, Sabrewulf, Cinder, Fulgore, Orchid, and Spinal. The free demo will include only Jago as a playable character and will requrie the full game to play as the rest. It’s reassuring knowing that the “Ultra Combo” has returned.
Kinect Sports Rivals - Launch Title
Kinect Sports Rivals will bring the best-selling Kinect title to the Xbox One with new re-imagined ways to challenge your friends. Made possible using the new Kinect your movements and expressions will be tracked with incredible accuracy, constantly scanning your body to ensure that each move is captured.
Ryse: Son of Rome
Ryse: Son of Rome is an upcoming action-adventure hack and slash title in development by German studio Crytek and being publisher by Microsoft. Centered on the Roman general named Marius Titus the demo featured you working with the Roman infantry by shouting commands to create formations in piercing enemy defenses and quick-time events to execute finishing moves. It’s a brutal title that plunges you in the chaos of close-quarters combat where you can see the life of your enemy leave his body as you execute them using your various weapons.
Ryse: Son of Rome will feature Xbox Smartglass, Game DVR, and Kinect functionality. You can use your mobile or tablet device to manage showcase your gameplay highlights or shout commands to your allies.
3rd-party titles
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag - October 29, 2013 NA / October 31, 2013 AU / November 1, 2013 EU / Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii U - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
Ubisoft’s signature franchise is returning with a new character and setting. Assassin’s Creed IV will have players stepping into the shoes of Edward Kenway, a British privateer turned to pirate, as he travels throughout the Caribbean islands. Using the elements from Assassin’s Creed III’s naval battles Ubisoft has taken it one step further allowing players to duel-wield guns and dive into the sea in search of treasure. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will not only be available for current generation consoles on October 29, 2013 for NA and November 1, 2013 for EU but will be a launch title for next-generation consoles as well.
Battlefield 4 - October 29, 2013 NA / October 31, 2013 AU / November 1, 2013 EU / Xbox 360, PS4, PC - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
Developed by DICE the Battlefield franchise has garnered a lot of popular of appeal for requiring tactical combat and teamwork in order to succeed in each battle. Developed using the new Frostbite 3 engine Battlefield 4 new dynamic wind functions, destruction elements, new ocean combat, and improved character detail. Fans of Battlefield 2142’s Commander Mode will be glad to know that it’ll be returning to Battlefield 4.
Shown at their E3 multiplayer demo of “Siege of Shanghai” Commander Mode, new weapons, vehicles, and the “Levolution” gameplay mechanic was shown. It highlighted how the map can be alter to a higher degree thanks to Frostbite 3’s capabilities. Returning are the same classic roles from Battlefield 3 that include Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon.
Call of Duty: Ghosts - November 5, 2013 / November 14, 2013 JP / Xbox 360, PS4, PC - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
The latest entry in the popular Call of Duty franchise will be coming to current generation consoles November 5, 2013, that include Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and next-generation consoles. After a catastrophic event the global powers have been shifted, resulting in the United States no longer recognized as a superpower. Ten years the enemy responsible for this emerges and the remnants of the U.S. Special Forces have joined into one organization to repel the threat called “Ghosts”. While multiplayer details are sparse the single-player will feature a new companion, a tactically trained dog called Riley to add the player in missions.
FIFA 14 - September 24, 2013 NA / September 27, 2013 EU / Xbox 360, PS3, PC - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
The upcoming sequel to EA’s FIFA series is set to release on current generation and next-generation consoles. With new features to the career mode that include a Global Scouting Network that allows players to search for talent throughout the various clubs around the world during the season. The game will be built using the new Ignite Engine that improves gameplay, realistic movement, and crowd improvement. The Ignite Engine will only be featured in the Xbox One and PS4 versions.
Just Dance 2014 - October 1, 2013 EU / October 4, 2013 UK / October 8, 2013 - Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U - Xbox One & PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Supporting up to six players at once will feature all new refined movies for players to choose from. In addition to an array of new local options, such as “Classic” free -dance mode and “On-Stage” mode, a new “World Dance Floor” mode is a competitive online multiplayer mode that allows players from around the world to dance to compete on the same playlist and share AutoDance clips.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes - Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Nintendo DS, 3DS, Vita Q4 2013 - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is an upcoming action-adventure title, developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo DS, 3DS, PlayStation Vita, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. When Silver Surfer is knocked out of the sky and shattered into Cosmic Bricks. Nick Fury calls Marvel’s greatest superheroes to retrieve the blocks before anyone else can. Like past Lego titles players will be able to control over 100 characters from the Marvel Universe, each with their own special abilities.
Madden NFL 25 - Xbox One & PS4 TBA - Launch Title
FIFA 14 won’t be the only game to use EA’s new Ignite engine. The latest installment in the popular football franchise, Madden NFL 25, will be launching on Xbox One and PS4 with the new Ignite Engine. The title will feature the same elements from the previously released version but with refined gameplay and graphic improvements thanks to the Ignite Engine.
NBA 2K14 - October 1, 2013 NA / October 4, 2013 - Xbox 360, PS3, PC - Xbox One & PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Published by 2k Sports and in development at Visual Concepts the latest installment in the NBA 2K series, NBA 2K14. Although information about the game is limited a new “Path of Greatness” mode will be featured within the title as well as updated graphics.
Need for Speed: Rivals - November 19, 2013 - Xbox 360, PS3, PC / Xbox One & PS4 TBA
Need for Speed: Rivals is an upcoming open-world racing title and will be the 12 installment in the Need for Speed series. Need for Speed Rivals will feature similar gameplay elements from 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit such as high-speed police chases, challenges that reward risk, and the Autolog system. A new social system called AllDrive, will allow players to transfer from solo play to competitive and cooperative.
Skylanders: Swap Force - October 13, 2013 NA / October 16, 2013 AU / October 18, 2013 / Xbox 360, PS4, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Wii - Xbox One & PS4 TBA - Launch Title
Developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision Skylanders: Swap Force is the third main title in the Skylanders video game and toy franchise. Like previous titles you’ll be able to portal action figures to the video game and use their abilities within the Skylanders world. A new feature called “swap-able” will allow user to swap halves of their characters to create new creatures that have special abilities.
Watch_Dogs - November 19, 2013 / NA November 21, 2013 AU / November 22, 2013 EU / Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC - Xbox One & PS4 TBA
Ubisoft’s new IP called Watch_Dogs is a open world stealth action-adventure title that has players in control of a vigilante named Aiden Pearce who can anything tied to the city’s central operating system. Taking place in an alternate version of Chicago, Illinois where the entire city is run by the CtOS or Central Operating System. Players can hack phones, steal funds, and trigger malfunctions to evade the police and complete objectives.
