A Challenger Appears

The blog entry you are currently reading is my very first contribution to this website. Rest assured, though, that it's not going to be my last, as I am the latest addition to the NoobFeed staff! First things first, allow me to introduce myself: my name is Jesse Dolman, I'm 22 years old and I live in The Netherlands. I study Spanish language & culture at the University of Amsterdam, and I also follow courses in Academic English and Catalan. As you can tell by my study direction, learning how to speak, write and understand new languages is one of my biggest passions.

With my fondness of linguistic matters in mind, it's no coincidence that I started writing about my other great passion - video games - at quite an early age. Fascinated by how gaming-related magazines and websites discussed many of my favourite video games in great detail, I started launching my own attempts at reviewing whatever titles were at my disposal when I was about 10 years old. Reviewing a game properly is something you have to learn, however, and anyone who has been writing reviews for a long time will attest to that. As a result, many of my early attempts at video game journalism bore more resemblance to incoherent fanboy ramblings than actual reviews.

As I grew older, though, I managed to improve drastically, and since about 3 years, I've been at a point where I can write competent reviews in both English and my native Dutch. While I initially posted my articles on various gaming-related forums, I chose a more systematic approach about 2 years ago, when I started using my member page at Gamespot as my own little website. Under the name DraugenCP, I regularly post video game reviews, blog entries and random gameplay videos on that page until this very day.

Although my experience at Gamespot over the past 2 years has been very pleasant, it was time for a next step, a step onto a new, bigger stage on which I could further develop my talent and experience as a writer. This stage became NoobFeed. With a sense of newborn enthusiasm I shall try and contribute to this site's growth by producing a steady current of quality reviews and articles, so maybe we can look back in a few years and say 'wow, we really created one hell of a website'.

In any case, I'm really excited and honoured to have gotten the opportunity to write for this humble but solid website. I hope you're going to enjoy reading my articles as much as I enjoy writing them!
