Ark Survival Ascended Guide | All Creatures Added to Genesis Ascended Part 1 Locations and Spawns

Genesis Part 1 arrived in ARK: Survival Ascended with a long list of creatures that were never part of the original version of the map. The problem is that almost every one of them is locked to a single biome, and several only spawn inside specific caves or on scattered islands. This guide covers where each new creature spawns and what to expect once you get there.

Start in the Volcanic Biome around the center of the map, where Pyromanes spawn near the oil and lava lakes. One well-known spawn point is the lava pool near the start of the Dodo Egg Race mission. Pyromanes burn while they are wild, so put the flames out before you commit to the tame.

Lunar Biome Cave Spawns

The caves in the Lunar Biome play a lot like the Aberration caves, and they hold most of the new cave dwellers. Bulbdogs sit inside several of these caves and are a passive tame, and Compsognathus shares the same caves. It is small and easy to walk straight past, so watch the walls and the ground while you explore. Karkinos also spawns in several Lunar Biome caves and is easy to spot thanks to its size, although getting close enough to tame one is harder. Ravagers are limited to two caves, one of which is usually called the Ravager Cave, and Roll Rats are restricted to two caves as well.

Ocean and Arctic Biome Spawns

The Ocean Biome carries most of the roster. Acrocanthosaurus spawns on several of the larger islands but is not common, so expect to search for a while. Chalicotherium only appears in the deep regions of the Ocean Biome, which makes this one of the few maps where you can tame one. Dinopithecus roams the larger open areas on several islands, and Gigantoraptor spawns on those same islands and is hard to miss thanks to its size. Direwolves come in two variants, with the winter version in the Arctic Biome and the summer version in the Ocean Biome.

New X-Creature Spawns

Genesis Part 1 also adds X-Creatures based on the newer species. X-Deinosuchus can be found and tamed throughout the Bog Biome, and X-Acrocanthosaurus mainly sticks to the left-hand side of that same biome. X-Cryolophosaurus sits in the snow on the right-hand side of the map and is an easy tame if you bring a shield. X-Archelon spawns around the Ocean Biome islands and toward the center, while X-Helicoprion and X-Xiphactinus are spread across the Ocean Biome.

Once you know which biome and which cave each species belongs to, every new Genesis Part 1 creature can be picked up in a single loop around the map.
