X-Creatures are the reason Genesis Part 1 is worth farming in ARK: Survival Ascended. They are stronger versions of existing species; they hit far harder in the wild, and each one is locked to a specific biome. Knowing which biome holds which variant saves a lot of aimless searching.

The Bog, Arctic, Ocean, and Volcanic Biomes each have their own roster, while the Lunar Biome uses Tek creatures instead. Spotting one is easy, since their color regions and patterns are completely different from their normal counterparts.
Wild X-Creatures deal 250 percent more damage and take 60 percent less damage from you and your creatures. They also award around 2.5 times more experience, making them one of the fastest ways to level yourself and your tames.
Once tamed, the bonuses change completely. A tamed X-Creature has 5 percent more melee damage and 3 percent less health than a regular tame of the same species, and it gains 50 extra levels, reaching level 500 on official settings.
Bog Biome Spawns
The Bog Biome holds most of the newer additions. X-Deinosuchus roams throughout it, while X-Acrocanthosaurus mainly sticks to the left-hand side. X-Paracer is common here and makes an excellent soaker during raids, and X-Raptor turns up almost everywhere, usually in groups. X-Spino sits around the rivers and swampy areas and is one of the strongest early tames available. X-Tapejara flies overhead and lands on trees and clearings, and it is shy, so approach carefully.
Ocean Biome Spawns
The Ocean Biome has the largest roster. X-Archelon appears around the islands and toward the center, and X-Helicoprion sits in the middle of the biome, worth grabbing if you want to turn loot into blueprints through its crafting skill. X-Xiphactinus is spread across the entire biome. X-Ichthyosaurus is the best underwater starter tame and sticks to the smaller islands and shallows, while X-Megalodon is everywhere and travels in small groups. X-Basilosaurus swims in deeper water, X-Dunkleosteus favors the deep rocky areas and is unmatched for underwater metal farming, and X-Mosasaurus lives only in the deepest parts.
Volcanic Biome Spawns
X-Allosaurus sits right in the middle of the volcano. X-Ankylosaurus spawns here as well as in the Arctic Biome, and the volcano is the easier place to spot one. X-Rex is the strongest land predator on the map and spawns here too, though it takes searching. X-Triceratops is common and works well as an early mount, and X-Rock Elemental disguises itself as a boulder, so watch where you walk.

Arctic Biome Spawns
X-Cryolophosaurus sits in the snow on the right-hand side and is an easy tame with a shield, and it can freeze opponents in PvP. X-Argentavis shares that area. X-Sabertooth roams the snowy forests and mountains and gathers Chitin, Keratin, and Hide well. X-Otter appears around rivers and frozen lakes and can carry several Artifacts at once. X-Woolly Rhino patrols the snowy plains and has one of the highest burst damage charges in ARK: Survival Ascended, and X-Yutyrannus wanders the mountains with a group of Carnos in tow.
Match the biome to the X-Creature you want, and those 50 extra levels after taming are yours.
