To stay alive in ASKA, you need to carefully plan your moves, gather resources, and learn how the game works. As a new chieftain, your main goal should be to make your village safe while also learning how to handle resources, villagers, and threats effectively.
This guide provides an organized outline of the fundamentals you need to succeed at the start.
Getting the Resources You Need

Initially, your primary goal should be to acquire the necessary tools. Get food, stone, and wood first. These are the most essential items you'll need to build homes, craft tools, and sustain your town. Obtaining items from around the world will help you create the essentials you need to survive quickly and efficiently.
Putting Together a House
One of your first significant steps should be to build a shelter. A shelter provides your people with a safe place to sleep and recover, which is crucial for maintaining their motivation and productivity. Giving refuge to villagers ensures their needs are met immediately, even if you don't use it yourself.
Setting Up Water and Food

Your people must always have access to food and water. Building a campfire allows you to cook food, which is much healthier for you than eating raw materials.
To obtain water, you must first make a rain collector, which will ultimately enable you to open the well. A well is a better long-term solution because it can give enough water for many people in the village.
Setting up Basic Production
For gathering resources, early production systems are critical. Set up a pit for a stonecutter, a pit for a woodcutter, and a pit for a gatherer. These buildings ensure that raw materials are always supplied. A peasant put in charge of gathering food, such as berries and eggs, is very helpful at first because it ensures everyone has enough to eat.
Calling on Villagers

Using the Eye of Odin to call in new people is the first step in growing your village. You can get new settlers to join your town by giving them Yoten Blood.
Each person has their own unique skills and traits, so carefully review their abilities before reaching out to them. Early on, give priority to people who know how to cut wood, stone, and plants for food, making gathering resources more efficient.
Taking Care of Villagers
When people join, they can be assigned specific tasks to perform. By default, villagers start as builders, which means they will help with building. They should be placed in production buildings when more specialized work is required, but keeping at least one builder on staff will ensure that new projects continue to move forward.
Putting Together Defenses

It is critical to keep your resources and people safe. First, build fences around your goods to keep animals like Smokers from stealing them. Additionally, consider installing lights to deter these animals at night.
When you're facing Blood Moon raids, you also need strong defenses. Fences stop the enemy from moving forward, giving you time to react.
Improving Homes
As you progress, you'll be able to build a cottage that can house more than one person at once. Cottages, unlike shelters, have fireplaces that keep you warm in the winter. This structure is essential for staying warm in the winter and reduces your home's overall footprint.

Getting Ready for Defense with Barracks: Building a barracks becomes very important as your village grows. With barracks, you can turn a villager into a warrior and protect your town with dedicated guards. By assigning villagers patrols, you can make them feel safer in your area and help them relax at work and sleep more easily.
