This is the reasoning behind the "You are loyal to the Ox" and "You are testing me" dialogue options on the Of My Enemy quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

In the Assassin's Creed Shadows "Of My Enemy" mission, Naoe gets into a tense confrontation with Hiromichi, during which you can decide between two things to say: "You are loyal to the Ox" or "You are testing me."

Neither affects what happens eventually, but they say something slightly different about you, your relationship with Hiromichi, and his personality in general.

Option 1: "You Are Loyal to the Ox"

Selecting this line causes Naoe to question Hiromichi's loyalty. He answers readily, validating her assumption and holding fast to his loyalty. His answer—"Yeah, I am. You are right. What will you do about it?"—shows his simple, assertive nature and leaves it up to you. This option makes Naoe brave and ready to speak in simple language.

Option 2: "You Are Testing Me"

The tone changes if you tell him Hiromichi has tested her for loyalty. He concurs, impressed to the point that he had been testing her. He also observes Naoe's sharpness, and this dialogue reveals a wiser and calculating attitude.

It indicates that Hiromichi believes in perception rather than confrontation and develops mutual respect in silence.

Though both options have the same sequence of events, they provide different character interactions. Either way, you go, you add depth to your encounter with Hiromichi and can create Naoe's attitude and method.
