Chapter 14
Angel of the Mountain

It was a rough awakening. I rolled out of bed to find Alessandra not with me. I wasn’t too concerned since I know she can handle herself. I got up and went off to wash myself. It was one hell of a night. As I walked out of the bath room I heard a voice. One I know very well.

“Well, well. Looks like The Knight’s awakened. Did he enjoy is night? Deflowering the lovely lady? Did he enjoy it all?”

I started to take the towel of my head, to see the source of the voice. As I lifted it I saw a shadow in the corner. No body, just a shadow.

“Do you think I’d be foolish enough to let you seem me in flesh? Hmmm? I don’t want to taste that sword biting me in the arm again. That hurt you know. Cutting me like that. Do you treat everyone you love like that?”

“Be gone demon. I need not your trifling once more. I’ve much already.”

“Oh how cruel, telling your Love to leave. Ricardo… don’t you love me. Didn’t last night mean anything to you?”

“Damn it spirit. Be gone, before I sever your tongue.”

“You’d never do that. I know you Mister Knight. You’d never hurt me now that I’m linked to her. You know that. What you do to me happens to her. Does that make sense? Or did you forget?”

“I removed your link. She’s safe. The link you place on her long ago will not harm her anymore.”

“Is that so? That little charm you attracted to the necklace you gave her. Did you check to see if it was still on her last night? Or were you too caught up in your passion to notice that it’s gone? How could you be so foolish? You didn’t even bother to check if love still had it one. It’s a pity… it’s gone now. Lost forever in the fires of your castle, burning away to never be remembered.”

“Lies witch, all lies. I know she is safe and I should kill you for that. She can’t take it off herself. I made sure the spell wouldn’t allow that to happen. She can’t take it off.”

“I never said anything about her taking it off. If you don’t believe me then check yourself.”

At that moment the voice appeared. I looked just like Alessandra. Only it had a demonic pulsation to her, something evil. She stepped forward and placed a hand on his bare shoulder. His skin started to crackle and burn under her touch. She only smiled and got closer to him. She moved her lips to his ears and softly spoke.

“She’s not safe, you can’t harm me…”

Quickly I pulled my dagger off of the desk and kicked her away. I swung the blade and made a very small cut on left shoulder of hers. She staggered back and looked at me. Those back eyes swirling at me, like clouds of pure evil.

“I’ll see you again my love… Maybe next time you’ll be nicer.”

With that she disappeared, as easily as she came. Could it be possible that the charm is gone? She can’t take it off herself. I made sure of that. But why would she appear? The charm kept her from such things. Unless the magic wore off she shouldn’t have been able to come near me or her. I annoyance I quickly dressed and grabbed my sword. I pulled it free feeling its power and its hunger for a battle. I pressed the blade to my forehead hearing all the voices of the spirits within it. I slide if down the length of my body and return it home.

I stepped out the room and still no sign of Alessandra. The panic is starting to well up inside of me, but best not to ever react. I walk down to the front desk. The Inn owner looks over at me carefully and smirks.

“Have you lost your wench already?”

I walk past him and head to the door and look around, still nothing. Now I’m worried. I head over to the courtyard, then the stables, then to the other Inn’s, nothing. Where could she be? I return to the Inn and march back up to the room. I start to gather her things and mine, placing them all in our packs. As I start to walk out I hear singing, gentle singing that I know so well. I turn and look to see the door to the Balcony open. I stepped out and Alessandra is standing at the far other end, looking to the sky, singing with the birds, the rays of sun bouncing off of her dress, melting my heart and weakening my knees. I watch as she sings. The song she’s sung so often to me…  '

“Rose grown in the Blood,
of those proud to thy love
Fear the one who is to come…

Angel of the Mountain

Forever loyal he be true
till the end he fights for you,
as the rose grows in the blood…

Angel of the Mountain

Angel help, we need you so,
Now again, oh so pure
come down to us.

Endless tides seem to stop
Placing men in the rough
Now again it seems to grow

Angel of the Mountain

Purest white it seems to be
stained red from the scene
watch now as it runs

Angel of the Mountain

Forever loyal he be true
till the end he fights for you,
as the rose grows in the blood…

She cries now, seen too much,
eyes so soft now to mush
end the life of this one…

Angel of the Mountain

Purest love wants its heart
lost to those, by the dust
life no longer grows for us…

Angel of the Mountain

Forever loyal he be true
till the end he fights for you,
as the rose grows in the blood…”

“Alessandra. I was worried about you.”

“Why? I’m fine. I just went off to enjoy the new day. It’s going to be a good one.”

She walks over to me, humming the song as she wraps her arms around my neck. Slowly she comes closer, and her lips press mine. Kissing me softly, still humming in to the kiss. I kiss back, smiling. I pull away and my blood turns cold… The charm is gone, and there is a cut on her left shoulder…
