Controller in hand, eerie music blasting through the speakers, its pitched black and all of a sudden, a tap on your back sends you falling off your seat. Like a raged bull, you mouth colourful expletives at your sister for scaring the living daylights out of you. She laughs and leaves. After playing Silent Hill for a few hours straight, her laughter sounded really sinister and evil! Enough about her and on to slaying those sexy faceless nurses. In this blog, a whole slew of piss scary games will be shown from the least scary to the most heart pounding horror game. With that, here is the list of the top 5 horror games.
WARNING: Scary pics may induce wet pants and sleepless nights, so bring an extra pair and a whole lot of courage!
Note: Minor spoilers are included, so thread lightly if you haven't played any of these games.
5. Resident Evil 4
In this game you play as Leon S. Kennedy, a special agent sent by the US government to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley Graham. Standing in your way, is the craze Los Ganados, Spanish folks who have been injected with Las Plagas, pre-historic creatures that can control the mind of its host. Pretty nasty stuff, even worse is the hideous monster that is the Regenerators, who has the ability to regenerate their limbs in mere seconds. If that wasn't enough, a special ammunition is needed for your rifle to take them out for good.
Note: Highly skilled players have killed these nasties with just a knife. Don't believe me, see it here.
Behind the Los Ganados revival is none other than Osmond Saddler, leader of the Los Illuminados cult, who plans to inject Ashley Graham with the Las Plagas virus and send her back to the US, where she can infect the government officials. Smart plan for a guy who has lived a long time but not if Leon has anything to say about it. Leon's main priority is to look out for Ashley and make sure she makes it out alive, by all means necessary. When you do finally rescue her from her cell, your problems are just beginning and the action builds up considerably as you delve deeper into its story.
In case you are wondering, I played this great game on the PS2 and its my favourite game for the console. Not to mention, this game includes the option to play as the hot babe in the red dress, Ada Wong in Seperate Ways.
4. Fatal Frame
3, 2, 1 Smile.
*CLICKS*
"OMFG did you see that figure!"
Scary as **** game, that equips you with a camera, known as Obscurato take out the lovely ghosts in their dwelling place.
All the games share a common theme, as they all have references to Kunihiko Aso, a fictional Japanese "Occultist", who develops a way to make contact with spirits from the netherworld. Spooky stuff, and if you are into Japanese horror movies, you are gonna love the nasties that this game throws at you. Highly recommended but be warned, it may induce cardiac arrest.
3. Dead Space
Still reading this, you have balls of steel! In Dead Space, you assume the role of Issac Clarke, an engineer who is tasked with fixing the core systems of the Ishimura ship. Sounds easy enough, but when the crew starts turning into grotesque monsters, known as "Necromorphs", Issac is in deep **** and he needs muster enough courage to stop the Necromorphs.
During the game, Issac stumbles upon many audio logs scattered around the ship that ties the events leading up until his arrival. It turns out that the ships captain was a member of the, "Church of Unitology", an influential cult that assigns him to retrieve his religions most treasured relic, The Marker. Under the guise of an illegal mining operation in Aegis VII, the captain works his way to getting the relic in a planet already deemed off-limits by the government.
Each of the Necromorphs behave differently, the Infector infects others by latching onto a corpse, and then penetrates the skull with its sharp proboscis. This begins the process that initiates rapid mutation in the host's body, turning them into hideous and deformed aliens. Other mutations are even more grotesque, with some sporting short tentacles, large tumorous growths and corroded flesh.
While the Necromorphs might seem overpowered, you have various firearms that can slice these nasties like butter. Known as "strategic dismemberment", you have to cut an enemie's appendage multiple times to kill them for good. Its smart gameplay really enhances this spookfest and its highly recommended to all horror fans.
2. Siren: Blood Curse
In this PS3 remake of the first Siren, the game begins with a cutscene that focuses on an American crew, that is sent to Japan to investigate the legend of the vanished village, Hanuda. A placewhere human sacrifices are said to have taken place thirty years ago. Removed from previous games, the Link Navigator has been replaced with twelve chronological episodes that contain intersecting scenarios for the various playable characters. For me, this game really nails the atmosphere and its really intense when you have to stealthily manoeuvre past the shibito, without knocking the randomly placed objects in the levels. Siren: BC is a great game that almost made it to the top.
1. Silent Hill 2
In a game where fog is filled in the streets, where fugly monstrosities are commonplace, you have to navigate and find your way out of this nightmare. When James Sunderland receives a letter from his late wife, Mary, he decides to go to Silent Hill as she mentions that she is waiting for him at their special place. Talk about a bizarre premise.
Like its prequel, James has a radio that emits static sounds whenever an enemy is near. He also has a flashlight that helps him see through the thick fog that envelops Silent Hill. However, the deformed enemies are drawn towards the light, and how you use it determines whether an enemy will attack or leave you alone. When James arrives at Rosewater Park, he meets Maria, a woman who closely resembles his late wife but with more skimpy clothes. She claims that she has never met Mary and accompanies James in his search as she is afraid.
How he finds his wife and what creatures he encounters along the way? Play this game, rightly regarded as one of the scariest games ever made and find out. You will be in for a shockingly good time!
On another note, doesn't Cameron Diaz look alot like Maria? Need proof, look at the picture!
