A quick, clear save guide so progress is locked in without wasting rare saves.

In Echoes of the Living, saving is not automatic. Using a Floppy Disk on a computer in certain safe areas is usually how you make progress. The Motel is one of the first places where this becomes important. When people treat the save system like a resource, mistakes stop happening, and long sections feel a lot safer.

How the Save System Works

A Floppy Disk must be in the inventory and the right action must be taken at a Computer for a save to happen. If the prompt doesn't show up, it's usually because the Floppy Disk isn't selected for use or the angle of the interaction is a little off. It helps to get closer, look the computer in the eye, and try again with the Floppy Disk selected.

Where to Look for Floppy Disks in the Motel

The Motel is an important early hub, and it's also where you can get the first reliable Floppy Disks. Look in the room with the Safe to find Liam's Gun and Knife.

In that same room, turn to the other side and touch the cupboards or shelf units that are against the wall. They look like background props, so it's easy to miss them, but they can hold Floppy Disks that keep the run stable.

How to Save on the Computer

Open the inventory screen and choose the Floppy Disk as the active item once it is in stock. Go to the computer and do something with the item while it is selected.

If nothing happens, step back one step, face the computer again, and try again. This system is strict, so where you choose the item is just as important as what it is.

Save strategy that stops painful restarts

Saving too often can run down Floppy Disks quickly, but saving too late can lose a lot of progress. Before making big changes to your route, long puzzle chains, or any part that forces you to go through several rooms in a row, it's a good idea to save.

Most of the time, it's a good idea to save first if you don't know what the next goal is. If the next goal is to quickly go back, it's usually better to hold the disk and move forward.
