Echoes of the Living follows the rules of classic survival horror, which means that progress often stops at a locked mechanism. These fixes take care of the most common roadblocks, so the route stays clear and important items like the Sun Key don't get delayed.

Answer to the Valve Puzzle

The first valve setup leads to a second, stricter pattern where all the wheels must end up facing the same way. For Valve Puzzle #2, turn each valve so that it faces right. Then, in order, turn the top middle, top right, middle left, bottom middle, and bottom right. This clears the way ahead without wasting time trying things out.

Safe Code Solution

The main safe that stops progress uses a "real safe" style of input. The right combination is 7 Right, 8 Left, and 4 Right. If the safe doesn't pop right away after you enter the last number, you can try resetting and checking the dial position again.

Answer to the Piano Puzzle

The Blood Gem keeps the piano locked up, and the Sun Key is the prize, so this puzzle is very hard. Play the notes 3-6-8-4-2 once the piano opens. If you make a mistake, you may need to start the pattern over from the beginning, so it's best to go slowly and keep the rhythm steady.

Solution to the Mayor Portraits Puzzle

This puzzle is connected to the Wilhelm portraits and keeps the path locked until the right dates are entered in the right order. Set the pictures to these years: Eckhart Wilhelm was born in 1862, Conrad Wilhelm in 1899, Hans Wilhelm in 1944, and Duncan Wilhelm in 1996. Before you finish entering the information, use the clues in the area to make sure the names match the pictures.

How to Fix a Puzzle That Doesn't Register

Some interactions act like older survival-horror games. You may need to completely reset the dial on a safe before trying again, and the piano can reset the sequence after a mistake. Back out, reset the interaction, and then carefully enter the solution again, all in one go.
