Emirates

I am sitting in Dubai Lounge waiting for my next flight to BD and listening to the song Wonderful Life from Black after seeing the Dubai video with that song playing as background music before the Emirates 777-300 landed. As most of you already know, Emirates is one of the best airlines in the world. I am also a regular Emirates passenger. I never had complains about this airline before, however today I am going to criticize a lot especially at a time when they ruinned my gaming time. It was a Emirates flight EK 204, the flight that usually departs on Tuesdays and Thursdays morning from New York straight to Dubai. I usually take this flight because I am a fan of the aircraft, the Boeing 777-300, even I had the option of departing at night with the superjumbo Airbus A380.

Ok lets get to the point. I was upgraded to Business class, so I was lucky. No no no no!!! I was unlucky, since I got the worst seat of the plane. Some of the components of my seat were broken and totally not functional. The seat was in bad shape so I did not have that much comfort than I had before, which also pissed me off since the best way to avoid boredom is either watch movies, play on screen games or sleep. Sleep can be considered a time catalyst so I prefer that because its a 11 hour flight. So I take a nap somehow on this uncomfortable seat. When I woke up, it was like 6 hours remaining. I dont want to touch the on-screen games since the games are utterly boring. Games included are Tetris (I would still prefer the console version rather than this since it was slow), solitaire, checkers, chess (i love playing chess if I play with another person, not computer), a scrolling shooter which was playable just for a few minutes, a Galaga rip-off game which was mad slow and so on based on the same categories of games. Recently they added few more games like a 3D version of tennis which is just simply boring as you only need to win 2 sets to win the game and the opponent had a bad A.I. Next addition is a 3D tank game where you just need to shoot other tanks with only 2 weapons provided: a cannon and mines. There are 5 levels in total and the number of enemies increases which at a point makes you sleep. I just felt sleepy when the passenger seeting beside me was playing this game and I had nothing to do. I am just wondering why one of the world's most popular airlines does not have quality games. Emirates biggest competitor Singapore Airlines, is a heaven for gamers, since they are equipped with multiple SNES game and Gameboy games. So why dont Emirates dont add SNES games? They have insane amount of money in their pocket and already has over 150 aircrafts. Even better, why not they add PS games or even arcades games from Xbox Live and PSN? If I ever run an airline business, which is my dream, I would surely add those even this costs a lot, cause customer satisfaction really matters.

I thought why not I get my Alienware and continue playing Sacred 2. At least it will kill a hell lot of time and I need to finish impressive number of quests and level up. Guess what, I forgot to charge my laptop so it was showing 16 percent remaining. So I took out my charger and plugged into the seat power socket. The charger didnt turn on. This is sometimes an electrical glitch that the planes have with their seats power sockets so I maneuvered a little. It still didnt work. Now I was really pissed. The seat is broke. The power socket doesnt work. What should I do, I was bored to death, so I had to spend my rest of the time bringing out my PSP and play Little Big Planet which I recently brought. It is a fun platformer. If possible I might post a review after I play a great amount of the game.

In conclusion, Emirates should really consider improving their interiors and inflight entertainment system, provided they have insane amount of money. The plane itself is getting old since its been used a lot for 7-8 years and since the NY-Dubai flight is a high priority flight and a long ranged one, they should not use old aircraft at least, even though its a B777, which has an excellent record. They should replace those with the Airbus A340, which they already have for some other destinations and also have wi-fi connections installed whereas they still havent installed those in B777. If they continue to piss a loyal customer, then there will no other way rather than change the airline. Now my next flight is after 5 hours and I hope the power socket does not get down in the plane, provided its EK584 B777 and also an older aircraft than the one I rode.
