End of Abyss Guide | How to Get the Grappling Hook

The Grappling Hook in End of Abyss is obtained by completing the Containment Sector and defeating a challenging enemy battle. This tool comes in handy for bridging gaps with Anchor Points and pulling down ladders that you normally have to reach from above. You'll need the Radiation Protection Suit Mod to reach the area with the Grappling Hook, though.

Follow the Route Through the Containment Sector

Before heading into the Containment Sector, make sure you have the Radiation Protection Suit Mod equipped. You can obtain it from Factory East Basement Level 2 (B2).

Without this protection, you cannot safely use the elevator leading into the lower section because of the radiation.

Once you have the mod, head to the Waterworks and open your map. On Basement Level 3 (B3), toward the eastern side, you will find a flooded area with a ladder leading down.

Operate the nearby levers to drain the water, then climb down and follow the passage toward the Containment Sector.

After entering the Containment Sector, climb the long ladder and use the Restoration Pod in the room on your right if you need to save.

From there, head straight across the area, turn right at the end, and follow the stairs upward.

At the top, work your way around to the left and continue along the balcony. You will need to make a loop through the connected rooms to reach the higher section.

Keep following the route until you reach a ladder. Climb up, pass through the next two doors, and look for a lever on the wall.

This lever is easy to miss, but it opens the locked door below. Activate it, then kick down the nearby ladder so you can climb back down and pass through the newly unlocked door.

Take the Elevator to the Lower Section

Continue through the unlocked door and climb the ladder at the end of the passage. Follow the stairs down, enter the next room, and turn left to reach the elevator.

Take the elevator down and follow the corridor to another ladder.

Watch out here, as you will come across a swarm of Glowticks. These little guys can attach to you and blow up, so try to keep moving and don’t let yourself get surrounded.

Climb the ladder at the far end to safety.

Prepare for the Enemy Encounter

Once you reach the top, head upstairs and enter the Save Room on your right. There is a Restoration Pod and Workbench here, so it is worth getting your supplies ready before continuing.

Craft some Grenades, Flares, and Explosive Charges if you have enough Fragments.

From the Save Room, continue through the area and head toward the upper balcony. There is acid on the floor in parts of this section, so stay close to the wall where possible to avoid taking damage.

The balcony eventually leads to an arena below. Dropping into it triggers a large enemy encounter.

Survive the Arena and Collect the Grappling Hook

Once you enter the arena, throw a Flare to draw the enemies away from you. Then get on the platform, which you get from the elevation.

Several enemies will appear, including Husks, Spitters, and a Corroder.

Use Grenades and Explosive Charges when enemies are grouped around the Flare. The Riot Breaker is also good for dealing heavy damage to the Corroder and finishing off smaller enemies.

Keep moving between the raised platform and the lower pathway to avoid attacks and the acid on the ground.

After defeating every enemy, the previously locked room will open. Head inside and collect the Grappling Hook.

Once you survive the Containment Sector enemy encounter and collect the Grappling Hook, you can use Anchor Points, pull down inaccessible ladders, and open new routes throughout the facility.
