The Particle Disruptor is one of the strongest weapons in End of Abyss, particularly after you unlock its Overcharge Shot. However, to get it, you have to reach the late-game Lower Levels, unlock the Infirmary, and defeat an optional boss. You will also need a special upgrade material, hidden in Maintenance, to unlock its full potential.
First, play through the story until you have overridden all three SCUs. This will unlock the Central Elevator, so that you can go down into the Lower Levels.
Proceed through the Lower Levels until you reach the Incinerator on Floor 1 (F1). This flamethrower is important because it burns away Parasitic Growth that blocks some passages and hidden items.
Find the Infirmary Access Keycard
After obtaining the Incinerator, enter the room directly south of its pickup location. Look for Parasitic Growth covering the floor and burn it away to reveal the Infirmary Access Keycard.

Pick up the keycard, then head back to the Habitation Sector. Proceed to the Fast Travel Shuttle and use the keycard to open the elevator near the Infirmary.
Defeat the Morgue Dweller and Collect the Weapon
Search the Infirmary until you locate the Restricted Access Keycard in a small room on F1. Use it to open the northern corridor door, then go down to Basement Level 1 (B1).
Follow the passages toward the Morgue Dweller, an optional boss guarding the weapon.
Defeat the boss, then continue beyond its arena. Use the Incinerator to destroy the Parasitic Growth covering a hidden alcove. Enter the opening and collect the Particle Disruptor from the Item Box.

Reach the Special Projects Division
To upgrade the weapon, return to the Mainframe area in the Lower Levels. Find the elevator in the northeastern section and burn the organic growth covering its nearby switch.
Activate the switch and ride the elevator upward. Locate the Energy Node Door and shoot its connected Energy Nodes to unlock it.
Continue into the Special Projects Division and interact with the Experimental Restoration Pod. This transports you to a previously inaccessible section of Maintenance.
Find the Laser Charging Module
After arriving in Maintenance, descend the ladder and head toward the large robot arena. Prepare for a difficult Lockdown Encounter involving several waves of mechanical enemies.
Using the Security Rifle against armored targets can make the encounter easier.
When all the waves are beaten, the bridge will expand. Cross it, turn right, and go down the passageway through the rubble.
Crawl underneath the obstacles until you reach a Weak Structure. Destroy it with an Explosive Charge and continue through the opening.
Locate the damaged robot with a glowing red eye. Use your Grappling Hook to pull the Laser Charging Module from it, then collect the upgrade material.

Upgrade and Use the Particle Disruptor
Return to a Workbench and use the Laser Charging Module to upgrade the Particle Disruptor.
The upgraded weapon allows you to charge powerful shots by holding the fire button. Its Overcharge Shot deals massive damage, making it particularly effective against bosses.
However, the weapon can hold only three rounds, and each round costs 100 Fragments to craft. Save its ammunition for difficult encounters.
Collecting the Particle Disruptor from the Infirmary and upgrading it with the Laser Charging Module unlocks a devastating charged attack for late-game boss fights.
